My first order has just arrived. Very pleased .

Thread: Solarlac issues can anyone help
14/05/2015 11:50:26

This was sprayed directly on to a test piece of bare balsa.

14/05/2015 11:49:47

Just tried thinning it down to 75% and using Solarlac thinners (fresh tin) at 35 psi . Also using a different airbrush and nozzle .Same issue but much finer "web" close to a super lightweight cloth . Have I discovered a potential new product!

Hello Bob, I usually put a coat of Gloss clear on the Gluelines Spectra paint (which I think is the same as the Flair Spectrum )

13/05/2015 13:12:37

Thanks. . I have given up with the Solarlac paint and reverted to the Spectra one. This has gone on fine . It's unfortunately the wrong shade of colour , but it will have to do for now .

13/05/2015 12:35:44

Hello Bob,

Temp here is just over 18 C . Compressor was set at 28psi (I have just tried it with 35psi) same problem

13/05/2015 12:33:16

I left the clearcoat for 48hrs . So I hope it had. I have also tried it directly on a "test" bit of balsa and same issue again across all three pots . I also opened another can of Solarac thinner and same issue (same with it on spare airbrush) . I am beginning to think that it may be the paint itself (a rather large amount is covering my hands at the moment!)

13/05/2015 12:28:10

I have tried with 5 Psi upwards

13/05/2015 12:16:25

20 something PSI

Hello Tim,

This was for The TM that you kindly made up the markings for. The Solarlac thinner tin was new , bought yesterday.(as well as the paint). So frustrating!

I have just tried another airbrush with three different ratio's of thinned paint and same issue. So suspect that the paint itself maybe the culprit. As I also tried some Flair/Spectra paint (thinned with the Solarlac) and no problems with that .

Not seen your brother yet!

13/05/2015 11:25:55

I have just used Solarlac paint with my airbrush (thinned down as per instructions on the tin). The issue I'm having is that I'm laying down on my workpiece what can only be described as a very fine spiders web (On balsa that's been primed with clearcoat)

I have tried thinning it further (Solarlac thinner) and still same issue . Has anyone else had similar problems or know why this is happening . (I have also tried different nozzles - my airbrush is a dual-action one so able to regulate air as well)

Still showing as pending. Looking forward to getting my order(s) . Brilliant prices. Wish I'd noticed earlier.

I can now retaliate by saying " see how much I've saved!"

I spoke to them today. They have been overrun with orders and had quite a backlog. I ordered mine on the 6th too and was informed it would be posted tomorrow.

Thread: Suppliers of Ultracote paint (or is it the same as Oracover paint)
16/04/2015 14:51:26

Hello Adrian,

I have just bought some Oracover paint plus thinner .J Perkins are the distributors for this . I suspect that a lot of LMS will only special order these as they are not cheap . A tin of approx 125ml and thinners to suit came to over £24.It might be an idea for you to contact Horizon in the UK to see if they can order some for you (I dealt with John Norris there some years ago and he was of great help)
