Thread: Turnigy G60 Motor issues
Thank you for those pearls of wisdom. I had the pleasure of watching a friend's H9 warbird tear itself to bits , him having failed to threadlock the mounting screws. I use the ZAP Z-71 red stuff ie permanent!
Thanks Frank. I also picked an 18X12 APC E prop and a copy of ecalc (Thank you Reno Racer for that) . I have a number of 5 and 6 cells so will see what's going to work best. looks like I will also need some bigger wheels for some clearance!
ONCE AGAIN A VERY BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOU FOR PUTTING ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
Thank you all for your help. I have got myself a number of props ranging from 17x10 to 20x10 and will experiment with various batteries as well. This was a non thinking last min purchase for an ARTF that I was given as a present.. I should have given the matter a little bit more thought rather than just glance at the figures shown on the HK website. My mistake.
Has any one had any experience with the 300KV version? I've tried using it with the recommended setup ie 6 cell (Nanotech) lipo, 13X8 APCE and new Turnigy 100A Esc. On max throttle I get just over 300Watts (according to HK site it advertises a power out put of 1425W's ie a direct replacement for a .60 2 stroke). I just about managed to get the model up in the air and rather quickly landed it. The model is just over 4kgs inc the battery. Other Lipo's were also tried and similar power output figures measured.
Thread: Help with finding suppliers for fiber glass cloth
Thanks for all your help thats brilliant
I'm looking for suppliers of GF cloth in various sizes and lengths. The company I have used in the past don't appear to be in business anymore. Can someone on the forum please point me in the right direction.

Its being adopted by the club as a mandatory item for safety . In this day of Elf and Safety one can never be too careful!

Well worth going . A number of us from my club went a few years ago and had a great time. Spiro's is a brilliant host.
Thread: BMFA Classifieds
I understand that there is an issue which the BMFA are aware of and working on . I have to log into the site and pick up messages. I put a listing on the classifieds but put my mobile number in. Hopefully will not get too many scammers!!
If you are buying then either try and go around with cash or pay via Paypal (and not as a gift - worth you paying the 4% charges for peace of mind - I say this with experience!!) . Appreciate you are selling, but this is just a bit of general advice as I'm still fuming!!!

Thread: Mid Sussex Flyers
I suspect it was for the old website which had got hacked.
Hello Kim the club is still there. I'm not sure why you are having issues with the club website . It seems to be fine:-

Club is alive and kicking. I have sent you a PM
Thread: How long does it takes to complete a typical ARTF?
I have to say that's an interesting question to answer as I'd find it difficult to define "typical ARTF" . Some have taken a few hours and others have necessitated large amount of hours usually in the area of U/C or in one case having to cut off some of the wing covering to add strength to the wing fixing.
Thread: Pete Lowe, RCM&E columnist
Very sad news indeed. A great modeller and musician. A real loss to our hobby. My condolences to Janet and the family. He will be missed.
Thread: Wing tube suppliers in the UK?
I had a similar issue last season and bought my replacement at Falcon Aviation (Aluminium) . I found them very helpful.
Thread: This quarter's BMFA news
Not necessarily true. I arrange for read copies of the BMFA magazine to be dropped of at two of our local ATC Squadrons ,from which we have had a small number of cadets coming up to our club to try out model flying -yes including free flight ie the Darts that were obtained from BMFA HQ . We now have three new members as a consequence of this. Another club member who is a Design and Technology teacher at a local school also makes a point of circulating the bi-monthly BMFA news to his pupils (I understand that they may be considering putting a team in for the BMFA challenge - so not all doom and gloom) .
As a magazine aimed at a minority hobby with all its diverse interests , I think it does a reasonable job. It is very reliant on contributions in the form of articles and reports from its own members.
Sorry Andy. My copy also had a staple malfunction!
