Looks like the buddy box question has been answered in our favour - from Andy Symons on FB...

"Productive CAA meeting yesterday. No exemption required for buddy box flights. The CAA fully accept the BMFA position that the person holding the slave TX is neither the operator or remote pilot.

Of course the aircraft will need a valid Op Id on it and the person on the master TX must hold a competency."

Cool,,, I pleased with that,,, but I couldn’t find it on face book

Is it really such a good idea to hang a weight on a crankshaft? I would be interested in Jon's opinion.

The boat brigade, car and helicopter fans have done it for many years,

rNot had one myself but a friend did and used to manoeuvre it had to get the interplane struts to pop off ! laugh They were only fixed on with clothes fasteners.

Yes that's the point, Press studs to hold the and plates on,

Cartwheel it down the runway ,

refit  the wings back onto their seats refit the end plates and go fly again.

No glue needed for the average misshap

What if someone who knows you, goes rogue and uses your details on the INSIDE of their drone to commit a crime ? it's a jungle out there, can't be too careful you know. wink

Hmm perhaps I should take the number plates off my car

I suppose you could fit the supplied undercart and trim off to form a stub for the oleos

Its pretty easy to make an undercarriage. I made mine from a pair of cheap hobbyking oleos and a few lengths of strip steel. A bit of brass tube, a few bolts and some silver solder later and it was all done.

While a spung u/c might not be 100% required i have found it really makes a difference to the model as takeoff and landing look so much better with the wheels bouncing around and the model rock solid

And a pair of Valerie singletons

You may find gas struts will need to be restricted

I would favor the flair sprung Tiger Moth type

I would have a practice on a scrap piece of balsa,

Its quite easy to put to much dope on and can start to ballon up
