Thread: Introducing 3D Printing
18/10/2016 16:30:38

I fly FPV quads and 3D aircraft and have found 3D printing really useful.

For example, I have added winglets to some of my aircraft and printed loads of quad frames. If I break a quad frame I can simply create a new one.

Also I love all the different varieties of filament available.

Thread: Joining 3D Printed Parts
18/10/2016 16:28:29

Yeah ABS slurry is good for keeping an ABS part onto the print bed but it is not good for sticking two parts together.

For joining ABS or PLA I have always found a contact adhesive like UHU Por to be best. Any glue that when cured still has a bit of flex in will work wonderfully. 2 Part epoxy usually cracks along the join line.

I hope this helps.

Thread: 3D printing - a home production revolution?
13/01/2016 18:39:28

Well whilst waiting for HK to restock their 3D printer filaments I decided to try some from **LINK**

Was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I thought it was worth a mention as they seem to have their ABS filament on offer at the moment.

Thread: P-51B - Tony's new design for the 2013 Special Issue
29/01/2013 19:24:54

I am now much more interested in Helicopters and hope to continue with this interest like most 18 year olds, but a Tony Nijhuis P-51D might tempt me to revisit scratch building a model again. I cant think of any other designer who has had, or will have this effect so well done Tony, keep the lovely models coming!

Thread: How hard to build?
04/11/2012 16:50:39

The TN 62" spit was my first ever build and i think that turned out alright

Thread: Should lewis hamilton go to mercedes or stay with McClaren?
27/09/2012 17:42:27

Mclaren can provide a winning car. I think he would be stupid to move away from them despite the bigger pay check

Thread: Hobby King UK stock levels
20/09/2012 21:44:51

Hobby King have had trouble with the shipping getting delayed and not arriving to the UK on time.

It would seem that they cant stock the UK warehouse fast enough

Thread: Cheap vs expensive manufacturers
13/08/2012 10:19:40

Multiplex kits are fairly expensive for what they are but the quality of the kit and the ease of builing and the flying characteristics makes it good value for money. (this is the same for Parkzone)

However, Precision Aerobatics kits are also fairly expenisve but i have found that they are very fragile and dont fly as well as the price tag would suggest

Thread: UMX Gee Bee
08/08/2012 16:12:34

I would suggest you walk in and find the model, tread carefully and the crop will still be harvestable. Combine harvesters are designed to reach crop low to the ground so you will be fine and i am sure the farmer would not be happy if a UMX Gee Bee caused the downfall of his expensive harvester so go for it. But do be careful.

Thread: what type of music/singers helps you build your models?
03/08/2012 12:19:18

I cant listen to music while I build otherwise I spend all my time dancing and not building! Would take me years to build and ARTF

Thread: the local model shop...long may it live..
27/07/2012 14:10:36

Yeah my local shop was galaxy models as well. It was a great shop and Gary and Pete and all the staff were great. Such a shame it closed, now my nearest local shop is in Colchester and its not so good and i never go into Colchester usually so i cant "drop by"

Thread: ...a request for Tony
19/07/2012 15:34:27

I like the idea of RC Birds. I bet tony could make a fantastic one but wont hold my breath.

A pterodactyl would be awesome

Thread: Vertical fin...not so vertical
03/07/2012 21:14:54

Youll most probably notice it when you use the rudder. The plane wont just yaw but will slightly climb and decend i should imagine.
