Hi Chris,

An impressive kit of parts, and all coming together making a very nice build of it. I'm sure your posts will help many of those new to to gyros, and to some of us which aren't so new yes

Cheers mate.

Would like to help but where Gyros are concerned I class myself as a rookie, my advice is PM Rich with your question

One will be heading your way tomorrow for evaluation wink

Yes but I will wait until after the new year before getting down to the job in earnest .

When building the Atom I sent Rich a drawing of slightly different shaped flex plate which Rich put on that build blog as a PDF.

My reasoning for the reshape was because the required shim had only a minute area in contact with the flex plate

I contact Malcolm of "Coolwind Models" and over a cup of tea he kindly obliged to cut my reshaped Cruiser plate In receiving my plates I made contact with Rich to see if would mind me adding. the picture to this blog. I got the thumbs up. I thought my design is not a MUST but a second option

The new shaped plate will be available from  Malcolm of  Coolwind Models.

As I was lucky enough to have a set of 450 mm x 60 mm given me by an old friend they looked to me like AJ Blades, sure enough in checking their site, they do that very size as replacements for the 'Humpback & Scout. cost £20., So if you do not feel like making a set AJ is the answer

This is the section, Do not round the LE

Hi Rich,

The blades are showing a clockwise rotationwink .......picture in the negative?

I did send you a 'message', but I see now you have made an order for the GF yes

Hi Dete,

Did you make the mistake in rounding the blades LE ? . The LE requires to be sharp. A rounded LE would give the blade a certain incidence which could cancel out your shim.

I made this simple hand held blade spin up tester.000_0242.jpg I found using 0.4mm shim the spin up was slow, 0.8mm spin up was fantastic, required only the slightest breeze to start spin up

26/07/2015 09:49:26

That is exactly the same setup as mine but I used 35meg...........NEVER had the slightest problem with 35 meg with any of my and electric models yes

I thought your Atom looked great and your flying was top notch. I know you thanked those that done the trimming, but at the end of the day it was you on the sticks yes well done mate.

24/04/2015 06:37:24

Thanks Rich for that fantastic video, some really good flying too.yes

20/04/2015 15:52:06

Yes Dave you are quite right, I did mean 0.4mm as 1/64" ply was the nearest equivalent. What made me think of induced positive incidence on your blades was because I'm using AJ blades, I started with 0.4mm shims but increased to 0.8mm shims and the spin up is just marvelous..
