David when I zoomed into your attachment it didn't look positively sharp if I was wrong I apologize, but it's certainly worth adding more shim.. Strips of 1/64" birch ply can be used, it does't have to be FG sheet.
As Steve stated no rounding of the LE. Reason being any rounding induces a certain amount of positive incidence to the blade, If I had the same problem I would add extra 0.04m shims in increments until I eliminated the nose up climb out......worth a try
Chris, You are right and I was right first time,.............. going gar gar, had a senior moment,
Sorry Chris,....meant VLO

Chris & Frank,,
Two really good videos, and as for that take off Chris it was almost a VTO
I had another couple sets of blades to balance and came up with this idea which I found dead easy in finding the chord balance. . It's an odd piece of anodized of aluminium angle I had, I stated anodized because I found the edges were rounded where as un-anodized were finished square... I found it far easier than the pin method,
All three look very nice Orgur, model, site and weather
That was a really impressive flight, If I can manage my first flight half as good as yours I will be chuffed to bits..
Wise words from Steve and Max......that makes perfect sense .
There's no problem using a strip of 1/64" , after all it's still doing same job giving the blade neg incidence.. just make sure it's positioned at the recommended measurement.
Photos go ahead, I regard it as a complement
A very nice looking model. Good to see you back at Gyro building, hope you are keeping well..
That makes sense, I will recover after the weekend.
Thanks for your advise on the upper surface blade colour. I opted for gold yellow underside and dark blue tops thinking it would help visually whether it was flying away from me or towards me. If this doesn't work out as planned I will recover..
I also took on board your comment on turning with use of the rudder, this was going to be my approach .

Chas that looks the business. Strangely enough I was going to call in Old Warden today after calling into
GM Growers, but time wasn't on my side
I don''t know if you were directing your question to Rich or to any one in this build., but I can assure you D1 sets the required mast angle.
I wish you all the best with your build.
Our club field will not be flyable until spring, water being the main problem , and me being in my 80's I do like a bit of sun on my back these days ......sadly gone have the days being an all weather flyer .
As Malcolm of Coolwinds is local to me and I saw on his site he produces vinyl graphics I thought I would ask him if he could knock me up a set for the Atom and as you can see he kindly obliged. I must say it gives the finishing touch the Atom deserves
