Thread: Accident waiting to happen?
May have been worth chatting with the owner to voice your concerns? Perhaps would have been more effective than posting on a public forum. As responsible flyers we are all safety officers but to be effective we actually need to be prepared to point out potential dangers to others. IMHO
Thread: What has happened to i.c. engines?
What's happened is that IC flyers like you and I can get some real bargains on engines And then we get even better bargains on used IC models as people turn to electric.
So best thing is to ignore the trends and enjoy the reduction in costs to fly
Thread: X10 Horus update
No. Opentx does the same at close range. Usually it's just telemetry loss but occasionally there is control loss too which can be a pain if carrying a model out to the strip
My suggestion would be stay well clear of upgrading!
Just look at the traffic on the RC Groups forums, there is a long way to go yet.
As for the spectrum analyser, I have it and it's a gimmick - what are you going to do with it?
Thread: Chris McG F-86 Sabre Dog build blog
I am one of the silent followers of your thread and all the other build threads on here. It may feel lonely but it is not that you are wasting your time, it's just that some people don't want to comment too often.
I guarantee a thread like yours is worth a 100x the typical threads we see these days moaning about CAA or offering endless arguments for which battery to use or not use.
Keep up the good work!
Thread: Horus X10 transmitter voltage low warning level
Yes you can display actual Tx volts - takes some finding but the option is there:
Mine is set at 7.1V. Below is a plot from an actual X10S (not mine although mine is very similar) it clearly shows the difficulty in setting realistic alarm levels for this type of battery. I rarely fly for more than a few hours and charge every time anyway (force of habit) so no issue for me. IMHO 6.5V is living on the edge!

Thread: Hangar One
David, just realised why I didn't understand you on FB - I thought you said Hangar 9
I don't have any experience with the Hangar One kits but they come out well according to RCG. Problem is he doesn't want to ship to UK
Hope this helps

You have 2 obvious choices:
I have used both and can recommend both

Thread: Need help to identify plants
It's a Campanula persifolia commonly known as Canterbury bells
Thread: Warning X8R RX - do not use with CDI on IC powered 'planes
Thank you very much Ron, excellent work which is much appreciated, shame you had to go through so much grief to get to this point!
I must say that as someone who has spent 40 years in the design of Rx and Tx equipment, I am amazed how resilient these systems are! I am used to screening to the hilt and maximum physical separation so even the X8R is very good in real terms.
Thread: Square Rx 4.8v batts.
Here is a good source of sizes/shapes: https://www.componentshop.co.uk/batteries/radio-control/receiver.html
You can also buy the 1/2AA cells separately to make your own packs to fit tight spaces
Thread: Cyanoacrylate safety
Same here David - my reaction takes a few hours to mature
Sorry to hear of your problems Derek.
In short, yes. I started a thread some years ago after some months of various levels of 'flu like' symptoms such as chronic coughing, sneezing, tight chest etc etc. After process of elimination we realised it was due to the use of cyano. Basically I became sensitised to the stuff.
I try not to use it now but if I do, I wear a good quality mask and ensure there is good ventilation. Same goes for other glues and especially balsa dust.
Thread: Modelflying.co.uk Christmas Advent Competition updates!
Just been reminded that I never received the day 20 prize
Thread: Motor / prop calculator?
Thread: One receiver different models
Assuming we are talking about Taranis/Horus you need to bind each time but this will take less time than it will take to swap the leads over with the Rx and re-locating the antennas properly.
Technically it is possible to just swap models without re-binding by setting the model receiver numbers to be the same. However this is not a good idea because it could lead to disappointment and/or danger!
At only £30 a pop for receivers I just buy one for each model but I suppose if you only changed them round infrequently it would be worth considering
Thread: moonglow V1build
If you search, there are a couple of threads started on Moonglow. In this one Eddie provides some advice which may help. I am building one but am not as advanced as you are so can't help.
