Thread: Good news thread.

Been without central heating for a few days. One quote to replace PCB and gas valves at £460.00 + VAT but suggested new boiler. A bit of research and a replacement PCB from EBay for £43.00 which I fitted fixed the problem. See the problem, I could even have saved the £43.00.20191108_183144.jpg

Anything to do with a stabilisation Rx with the movement provoking a servo response with that servo possibly having a fault.

Two birds with one stone at least. Stan of Phoenix Model Products and Bekra in Newton Abott are well worth visiting. Bekra covers a range of Hobbies and Stan has a very well priced range of kit you'd be hard placed to beat. I also think there is a new shop opened in that rough area that may have had a mention in a recent mag. Enjoy your visit to Devon.

A few pics from a visit to the Lincolnshire Aviation Musem.

The taxy ride in Just Jane was a truly memorable experience last week, listening to the four Merlins start up and do their stuff was pure joy.

I've been to most of the UK aviation museums but given the history behind the purpose of this one it has a very special feeling about it. East Kirkby only operated for two years, the truly awfull loss of life by 57 and 630 Squadrons puts into sharp relief the intensity of operations from the airfield.

Over 800 airmen lost their lives in those two years from both Squadrons.

The museum is a very poignant reminder of what happened in those difficult times.

Well worth visiting.

Was also lucky enough to see the Mosquito start up and taxy the following day.

I didn't have time to go in any of the museum hangars so I'll be visiting again this Friday after my little treat....

Up to the Lincs Aviation Museum on Thursday for my, booked a year ago, taxy ride in Just Jane.

Can't wait, the thought of sitting inside the Lanc when each of those Merlins roar into life.

Popping into the BoBMF when I'm up there as well. A bit of an aviation road trip

Can't wait.

Great pictures Erfolg. I went Sunday.

For me parking and access was painless, although I came up from Devon I stayed with a mate in Dunstable Saturday night.

Arrived via the A505 at about 8.45am and drove straight into the car park near the pedestrian bridge without even stopping. Stayed till the end for the Mark Hannah tribute. I was on the A505 within 5 minutes of getting in the car, so we'll worth booking the main car park.

Weather much better than expected but it did curtail the two jets and the corsair lost its slot but hey up.

Overall the display was stunning and the opening sequence of 109s, hurricanes and Spits was visually stunning and evocotive.

Well worth the money and travel. I was back home having a beer by 9.40pm.

I booked a grandstand ticket and worth every penny. Had a great view until somebody drove past in this.

Thread: Rugby World Cup 2019.
20/09/2019 07:13:23

I know as much about Rugby as I do Quantum theory.

I've drawn France and Scotland in the office sweepstake, what are my chances of getting a 1st to 4th place finish .

Could the bonus prize for the first sending off be my only chance.

(I'm half Scottish so that might be a good omen)

Enjoy, looks like the weather is playing ball as well.

The Battle of Britain air show at Duxford this weekend looks to have a stunning line up of aircraft in tribute.

Couldn't get any text on the post. Just happen to be overlooking Croyde Bay working my way back home after an epic bike ride and heard a noise to my right. Assuming it's a C130 or similar.

Thread: Drones in the news - again...
15/08/2019 08:19:27

I'm there tonight so I guess it will be drone free.

What's interesting is the general public, based on that report, seem to have a very low tolerance to them being flown in innapropriate spaces and seem to be "policing" the problem themselves.

Its like it's become a very antisocial activity frowned upon by most, so good news in that context but used the correct way they've become accepted as a very positive force for good.

I hope the culprits get hefty fines, banning orders and equipment confiscation. Let's see how the current Laws and ANOs deal with them.

I would say yes, Alex.

11/07/2019 08:23:03

Picking up a little theme from the good news thread there seems to be one or two cyclists lurking.

Interested to hear what sort of bikes/riding some of us do.

To kick off I'll show my cards.

Calibre Triple B full suspension 27.5" wheels. Downhill, bike parks and rougher XC

Cube Reaction C62 Carbon 29" wheels. General XC most off-road stuff.

Specialized Sirrus X Comp Carbon 700 wheels. Tarmac fitness riding and long distance rides.

Specialized (very old) Hotrock 26" wheels with Hope hubs and brakes. Pub visits.

Enjoy riding as much as I do flying.

If you've not already decided my vote goes to FrSky based on great value, high quality equipment, telemetry flexibility and of course OpenTx.

Try and have a close look at the Horus or Taranis.

Channels were mentioned earlier, I use 9 on my Wot 4.

That reminded me, I was also going to say the two quality SAB pilots and models were memorable for the excitable and great to listen to, hugely enthusiastic Italian commentator who was quite unique in his delivery and all the better for it..

The pyro show was a spectacle but I did note, after the impact, a black model end it's useful life by spearing itself into the pits area which was quite some distance from the pyro flight line so clearly something went wrong but also shows the impact was still away from the crowd demarcation line.

Will definitely attend for the Saturday and evening flying next year.

First visit for me, always clashed with other events even though I've been going to the odd show since Sandown and Sywell.

Have to say I was very impressed. Went today and although the weather wasn't quite June it didn't hamper the flying and apart from one short sharp shower it was OK. Conditions underfoot were no problem.

The Grobs and spit were a bonus. Hugely impressed by the Quad racing setup with the split screen showing the action. Will take my goggles next year for the full experience. The Heli section was fun with the commentator really helping to make the connections between crowd and pilots, enjoyed the little bit with Iron Man and the lady pilot. Car racing also fun.

Blown away by, apologies can't remember the name, the young 11 year old Israeli pilot and Jace the Ace. They put on a duo slot which was the best flying I've ever seen.

Enjoyed the mass fly with the PB models and watching Jace, I think, rifle roll his model very low, very fast and very straight.

Well done Mr Bishop and the team for a very slick event.

Great to see proper beer being available and a note to myself to take bike next year to make it quicker to make it around the site.
