The next things to be printed were the signals officer, followed by the navigtors and the tactical navigators stations.

these were then painted up and glued into postion inside the fuselage.

Window frames were printed and glued inplace as well.

the cabin area is going to be double skinned so i can paint the inside before fitting the outer skin.

this is as far as i have got to date so more to follow as i plod on with the design and build.

Thanks for watching

Once all the formers were fitted i started on fitting the crew section out with 3D printed work stations and crew.

the main cockpit instrument panel was designed in "blender", printed out and then painted.

I then drew up and printed the pilot and co pilot, printed their seats and checked them for fit.

a few happy hours were spent drawing up, printing and painting the flight engineers station.

After trying to build one a few years ago, i have decided to try again.
This time i am going for a 9th scale version built from ply, depron and 3d printed parts.

This is going to be a very experimental long term project and i hope to get something that looks more scale than i have ever managed before.

so fingers crossed, here we go.

I started by cutting the cabin floor from 6mm lite ply and then printed all the upper formers i needed and then glued them down.

there are a couple of full width depron formers as well, mainly as to 3d print them would have taken hours and hours.

Thread: Anet A8
05/03/2018 10:44:09

I bought the Anet because it was a cheap way to see if i could get on with 3D design and printing.

i have moved onto a prusa i3 mk3.

expensive yes, but it can print faster and is smoother, quieter and has lots more features than my Anet.

mine now lives under the table unusued as i have moved onto something a little bit better.

the Anet was a good first printer, but i found it a bit to tempremental for me.

i find printed formers weigh about the same as the ply ones.

the advantage being that they are slightly stronger and of course you can add detail into the design before printing.

i love my 3d printer.

i print lots of scale details for my models.

i mix printing with depron in my builds.

my aerobat has a 3d printed front section including battery box, motor mount and u/c mount with a depron outer skin.

The wellesley has some thin 3d printed formers to maximise internal space for cockpit detail.
