Thread: K3736- MkI Fury-Jose L.G.

Today. I enlarged the top holes in F11. As the fuse tapers to the tail you must slot the stab support into F11 and later insert the lot betwen the longuerons that protrudes at the end of the sides.

Next I made all the cross parts that go betwen the sides, marked the center on the parts and aligned the fuse over the plan. F11 is hanging in the air. Pinned and weighted the fuse and glued the cross parts. This afternoon I'll glue the diagonal ones.

Once dry I glued both sides checking squareness.

Thread: Colinís Spanish Fury

Hi Colin.

Nice have you on board again. Ernie put a pic of the parts description on the main thread.

My Spanish Fury Will have some sprung undercarriage, not the Dowty because I have not the tools for making it. I have researched models with similar landing gear and almost all of them have a wire undercarriage faired with balsa. I´m going to take some compromiso and do a "Stearman" style landing gear with/without scisors on the telecoping part.disguised with paint. I think no one Will know if they are correct or not.

I have been looking at the plan the last months and think I have It fully sorted but today looking at the top/bottom view i have discovered the horizontal parts that run alongside the fuse.

Thanks guys.

Some progress…...Prepared the ply parts for the fuse. Trial fited both formers and ply sides. Marked the sub-formers positions on both sides noting the diference betwen the left and right. Once satisfied glued the formers and ply reinforcements on the right side. I usually mark the sides and put back to back to avoid doublé side síndrome.

Taking note of the advise of Danny I had made anew F1, 50 grams less tan the ply one.

Some pics….

This is the former F3 included in the kit. This is OK for the Mk1 model but Will be changed for the Spanish Fury. That big hole in the middle must go because I´m going to fix the landing gear to this as a cantiléver one.

Next pic. Checking the parts over the side panels. The position of the side formers has been marked inside and out.

Thanks, Sir.

Patience and some sticks refused for over sanding the joint área......

I forgot, The cross over sticks are from the sheet that is made the front part of the fuse.

12/10/2018 10:02:26

I´ve been working of the fuse the past days. Now I have both sides made: Once dry the first I leave enought pins for placing the second over it. Put some wax paper over the cross over of the sticks and fixed with pins the front part of the fuse and built the second stick part.

Before beginning the building I weighted the sticks of balsa, betwen 2.6 to 4.9 grams, Selected those abot 3.2 grams, (this weight is because there were a few around this weight).

Tomorrow I´ll go to fly, so probably Little building in the class…..

First side drying.

Second side (Left) built over the right side.

Hi William,

You are correct about the length of the tube. Once epoxy glued in their groove I`ll aply a fine fiberglass bandage over it and the balsa. This increase the gluing force of the part.

I`m going to use pull-pull for the tail parts. As the original both elevators Will be linked with a tube (carbon in my case).

Top of the stab and elevators finished. This afternoom I`ll make the other.

When checking the plan and the 3 views I noted that there is a missing sub-rib near the tips, so I marked the cores to remember it.

08/10/2018 12:25:36

Back to building after a few days of relax.

Cut the longuerons from a shest of balsa with the balsa-stripper (Great Planes ítem). Mainly framed the leading Edge, tips and some ribs for delimiting the parts. Later added the red of the ribs.
