Suggestions needed. Having problems with the ply crutch not lining up with the wing cutouts on the foam cheeks. Everything else seems to line up ok. Pictures show the problem. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Graham,

I realize that I should mind my own business of course, but if the extra width of foam is where the wing joins to the fuse, could it then be that your blind nut is on the wrong side of the beam???

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris,

No problem, that's the reason we publish our work on here -to instruct and also to attract help and ideas.

Hi Paul, 109 is looking good. Won't be long now until we can get spraying the 110's.

Half eaten Haribo!!!!! You were lucky. Those boys of Richard are getting careless.

Thanks for the info Paul.

I used the rear foam block as the datum and aligned all the top mouldings to it. I wasn't sure whether it was the ply crutch or the foam pieces which caused the problem. I was surprised how much foam I had to remove from the bottom of the foam moulding to accommodate the ply crutch assembly. I will take the ply crutch as gospel and adjust the foam wing seat.

Hi Paul, I am being a bit thick. I’m not quite sure what you mean by “pushed out first.

If I push the crutch side into the rear foam then the wing plate will not quite be log enough to straddle the two sides.(see 1st picture.

One other question, the gap at the bottom of the rear foam block. Is it filled with balsa or are the two sides clamped together and glued.

Thanks for your and David’s help.

Has anybody else found that the cutouts in the foam panels are a little bit big and so glueing to the plywood crutch is not possible without packing. 498ed02d-4a39-4eaf-8d72-2947f0b65c3d.jpeg

I have at last opened the box and started to look at the rudder assembly. Does the rudder post need l/e need to be tapered in to meet the ribs before adding strip as in picture?

Glad to hear all is going well. My wife was allowed to drive 6 weeks after the op.

Thanks for sorting out supplies, info etc. thats exactly what I was after. No point trying to re invent the wheel along with repeating the same mistakes.

Hi Nigel, How is the recovery going? Ready for a marathon yetlaugh

I like your tail wheel bracket. I would be interested in knowing how you made it (in easy steps along with materials. (For another project).

Hi Paul, sorry to have left you leading the way for us on the 109 build. I have been busy trying to finish refurbishing a few of the old models before starting a new project.

i hope to be starting mine within the next few weeks. I wonder how DD is getting on with his.

Morning Paul,

I have re read the thread but I thought that I would see if there were any other ideas. I to have a wonderful set of resin stacks, which I seem to think you had something to do with.

With mine I have even opened out the pipes with a dremel. Took a while but the effect is good. Just got to find a way of giving them a scale colouring.

Ps. Now that I have paid for my 109 I can now start to have a look at the 109 while I am waiting for the weather to improve so the I can start spraying.

I expect that I will be asking you a few questions on that thread also.

I am pretty much decided that a more fashionable airfoil will be used. Principally just because these older kits I have built seem to be more a one speed affair, without a lot of power being used.

You are absolutely correct with the flying characteristics. The one in our club as mentioned before is some 120%(wingspan is around 78" 3 channel. Flies on a 2820/10 with very little throttle. Perhaps that is the charm of this great model.

Hi all,

Just thought I would dust the cobwebs off this thread.

Any conclusions as to the best way of dealing with the exhaust stacks on the bf110?

We have one flying in our club. It has been enlarged to around 120%. It flies very well with a small brushless motor. I’m very interested in your build especially the fitting of aeilerons as I have the plan sitting on my todo list.

Hi Paul, have I missed something? Just wondering why you're showing how to reverse a servo?
