HK have released Version 2 from the global warehouse .**LINK** It has VTail and Delta capability also an Aux channel which should enable an on/off inflight facility I should imagine.

Hi Scott, I take it Wonderland on Lothian Road doesn't have any? Try this shop, they had a box of old HZ Super Cub bits a bobs, including wings and fuselages the last time I was in.**LINK**

PS. Very jealous that you're going to holiday at Loch p

Beautiful Simon!smile Will there be any longitudinal carbon strengthening required?

Thread: Hack Glider EP
29/11/2012 11:38:53

Thank you Tony.smiley This is my first attempt at a glider but I do pay a lot of attention to master craftsmen such as yourself and incorporate these lessons into my own projects. (Does the centre wing panel look familiar?)wink 2

Wheel assembly mounted.

28/11/2012 20:59:09

Outer panel wing tips, swept, raked and epoxied on with a further 15 degree dihedral. Note the scrap built jig ensuring both dihedral and chord positioning.

3mm lite ply undercarriage mounting. 2.5mm x 24mm bolt axle and 30mm soft foam wheel. If it doesn't fly I can use it as a wheel barrow.wink 2

Good intelligent thought process and solution Simon, hope the adverse aileron problem is solved. Have a Radgepat on the back chap.smiley

Thread: Tissue and dope covering advice please
27/11/2012 10:53:34

On the subject of tissue glue I watched a youtube video with a bloke using a Pritstick type glue stick. He was quite fast and produced good results spray wetting the tissue. It was on an open structure fuselage just like the West Wings Spitfire. Anyone else use a glue stick?

No taper on these panels Simon, I'll start to build another wing next week though, I'm watching your Libelle build and getting idea's but I've also Profili'd some ribs based on the Slingsby Skylark wing. I am however going to experiment with balsa versions of your tip extensions on this build and all the others.yes smileyI like them. Anyway here's the results from tonights bashing:

Ailerons and other flappy wiggly wing bits started.

Underside 1/8" ply skid mounted using hardwood, ply and balsa.

In best Peter Miller fashion a 1/8" ply nose ring is mounted behind the spinner ready for cowl building.

Great stuff Simon! With such a thick section you could accomodate the 250mm aluminium servoless airbrakes as sold by HK if you thought they would be any use. But to honest I've been rather impressed with the effectiveness of mixing in spoilerons instead, similar result less weight and engineering I suppose. Sorry, just rambling to myself again, watching this build with great interest and very impressed.yes

Thread: Got bored :)
25/11/2012 17:23:32

Amazing stuff Tony! Personally I can't get my aliphatic to cure quick enough to keep up your sort of accurate build rate. Well done chap. One thing crosses my heat opressed brain, if I were flying your edf, in fact any, I think I'd make sure that I'd employ accurate use of rudder to ensure a good flow of air into both intakes, not that I've ever flown one.

I really like it's delicate and elegant design Simon. Impressive. I should imagine quite a challenge to construct though? Once my balsa stock has depleted a bit more I really should persuade SWMBO that I simply cannot live without depron and carbon and that the purse strings should be slackened in that direction. In the meantime, the 'barge' build continues:

Outer wing panels started.

Shaped 'cockpit' area and battery hatch.

Thread: New Poll - what first got you started in aeromodelling?
21/11/2012 18:42:45

Flew Cox control line models and built a rubber powered Luscombe Silvair kit about 50 years ago as a nipper and never cut another piece of balsa 'til last year.

Well done Simon! Very interesting. 4 hours? You'll really have to do some prep for that, weather forecast, etc.

Thread: Glasfugel H201 Libelle

Marvellous Simon! Can't wait to follow the build log. I've got a couple of hours logged in a Libelle mostly when not instructing at Bicester. Ineffective airbrakes I seem to remember but good penetration in the air. To be honest I only flew it when the Astir or Discus weren't available though, Typical, you don't appreciate it at the time, but it's a privelage to have it in your log book.
