Thread: How much Expo and Why?

Plus or Minus expo is not a general term with radio it's brand specific to always best to check your manual. Futaba & Spectrum are opposite.

There were quite a few very nearly new up for sale online after the initial launch , it must of been a bit of a disappointing flyer for many.

I would put a decent 52 OS Surpass on your model, making it most reliable and making the model flyable in skilled manner.

A 70 fourstroke is about right in the acro wot Denis and is the power plant used when the magazine did a review a few years ago. It's not a light airframe and needs lead in the nose with a 70 so suggesting a 52 seems odd ? If I did another I too would use a 91 fourstroke.

I only went to the shop to buy some fuel (honestly!) but came home with one of these as it was at a price I just could not resist.

Thread: On Board glow
05/11/2016 18:34:57

I think there ok for convenience BUT not an answer to a poorly running engine. I've got one in a P47 Thunderbolt but plan to remove it soon.

The tuning of the engine is different to the settings on a motor started with a conventional glow starter, so all is ok until your onboard battery gets low and then you have a mistuned engine that's going to struggle to run anyway so I end up unconfident in the glow set up. It's like a bit of a vicious circle and after trials personally  I trust the well tuned motor rather than risking unknown battery capacity so it's a no from me.

Oh yeah, I heard about that.

I thought this was something new!

No Ted not new this time , but I doubt it will be long sadly.

This is from April on the link , & I believe it turned out to be a plastic bag.

Thread: Seagull P-47
05/11/2016 14:09:17

No problem Craig , there are quite a few bits on YouTube so you may find one with eflites on there. Some say the Seagull version flys better so it may not be all bad. I like the Hangar 9 Razorback too and kick myself not getting one when Sussex models had them on a special.

05/11/2016 13:32:34

Craig , this guy on YouTube has fitted FMS aftermarket retracts into his so it looks possible? A google search on the dimensions of both those and yours would confirm.

I have noted a few discontinued H9 products remerging as seagull

Maybe someone can confirm my suspicion that the are the same models rebadged?

No it's definitely not , totally different build configuration & a little smaller too.

I've not seen any Hangar 9 products re badged as Seagull? What are you referring to Phil ?

You will have to get a straw Bob.

I think the blue & white really sets it off. Looking forward to seeing it but knowing deep down the Bob will be taking his time lol 😂.

yes I know yours is in a different plane but what sort of flight time do you get ?

Plenty once they are run in mate , the one I have in the Hellcat isn't greedy on fuel and that hammers around at 3/4 throttle most of the time.

04/11/2016 18:10:33

Nice Bob , Saito 115 would be ideal in there 😉

I have my pumped OS 120 mounted inverted & its a very neat set up.

ASP / SC are just Chinese clones of the older OS 120, some swear by them , others at them. In my experience the general poor finish can lead to air leak problems. You pay your money & make your choice.

Andover Models will do you a Saito 125 for around £240 , Fantastic performers I have one in a hangar 9 Sbach , would probably have to go in side mounted due to the tank position but they are very easy on the eye too.

31/10/2016 10:03:43

It's not flow yet Pete but the quality is good & the wing system makes setting it up a doddle.

31/10/2016 09:56:52

A 91 size fourstroke glow engine will struggle with both of the models mentioned, I have an OS120 fs in my Hangar 9 C Eagle. This is a great combination as recommended in the RCM&E review.

If you want a fourstroke Pete then glow is the way to go, twostroke petrol being the alternative

Bought this last year from Salisbury. Been working on it off and on since then. Its had new servos, battery redundancy, new linkages, modified exhaust, new tail wheel , new nav light system, dual aileron servos and all new linkages. Just the wings to get sprayed up and check the CG....

The hole in the side of the fuselage was intentional as I needed access to get the closed loop and nav light wires in. It has a litho hatch that will be screwed in and painted white.
