Just bought a ASP120FS - question.. is the choke mechanism necessary? I am putting it in a Revolver 70 to replace a Saito 91FS and its a squeeze so could do with removing it.

There are no references to using this choke in the instructions and I have never used a choke before (apart from me finger!)

Cheers, Mike

Taken the choke out of mine on a Piper Cub. I tend to stop the exhaust to prime.

Good engine.

Have a choke on my asp fs70. Never use it now - always stop the exhaust, very effective that way.

Nope - just stop the exhaust as GrahamWh suggests. I've always removed them!

Never used a choke on any four stroke, normally a few flips with a finger over the exhaust outlet with the throttle open (using exhaust pressure to the fuel tank) then a quick spin with the starter to distribute the fuel, plug battery on and start!

Never used a choke on any of my 4 strokes......just not necessary IMHO.

4 Strokes tend to draw fuel pretty well so a good spin on the starter at full throttle usually does the job.....close the throttle down to idle, apply the glow, apply the starter & Hey Presto....smoke & noise....teeth 2
