Hawker Fury Biplane

When the preview announced the Skywriter biplane as Jungmann-esque I was sorely tempted. However the plans, nice as they are, are nowhere near a Jungmann. But on closer examination, I saw that the wing shapes, tail moments etc. were very close to those of the Hawker Fury. So I decided to draw up a Hawker Fury fuselage and tail to fit the wings, aerodynamics and construction principles of the Skywriter. Hope it flies as well as the Skywriter is said to...

the center parts of the fuselage, mostly 3mm liteply, all interlocking. No glue used in this picture!

and the present state. Still not glued, there are still a few bits missing, but I had to see how it looks, so I put it together with some clamps

as may be guessed from the undercarriage, I will be dressing it up as a Spanish Fury.

as covering progresses and controls are hooked up, I couldn't resist putting it together. Tail wheel, wing struts, windscreen and pilot to go...

She has finally taken to the skies today! She is a very well mannered lady, thanks also to Skywriter designer Lindsay Todd. I am looking forward to see all her tricks!

Of course there would be plenty of scope to improve her looks. We'll see, for now I plan to fly her.
