That's very heart-warming, Ken - shows that there are plenty of kind folk out there - and the goodies still outnumber the baddies! thumbs up

No red card from here, certainlysmile

I saw the first TV report when it was on Look North (NE & Cumbria) the other day. What a really nice bloke he is, he couldn't understand what all the fuss was about, as in his words "he only broke his collar bone".
I really hope he's able to get somewhere to live that will give him a happy & secure future.

Given that we become accustomed to so much bad news it is heart warming to see a story like this ...

Thanks for sharing Ken. Yes sadly this is what's become of the world. I wish this gentleman the best for the future and the worst for the rodent who hurt this poor vulnerable man. Best wishes for the future. The world gets sicker every day. I thoroughly believe we must sort all our own issues before resorting to Syria and the likes. Our country needs to learn to stand on its own feet and then we can help others.

Having watched the story unfold i find Mr Barnes to be a very modest, quiet and unassuming man who i am sure has battled prejudice for most of his life and appears to have had the support of family and local community through the years and more so now his story has spread. Look at his suprise at the strength of feeling from the public.

His appearance has nothing to do with it Robert Jones14. Would you mock a soldier who lost his leg in Afghan as 'Hoppy' ....i would hope not. Look to the person's character and spirit, not the outward face they present. I have come across many 'good looking' people who have ugly personalities.
