I am looking to build the South Herts Vulcan and looking to see if anyone has built it and if so how it went. Also if converted to electric etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

If it's any help, the original model was pictured at the Nats in RCM&E August '71 and reviewed by the same mag in the following month.

Hi Matt

I am still waiting for the plans and kit to come. How did you find the build to go. How did it fly and do you still have it.

How did you power it? Whilst it would be nice to do edf I am planning to go with an electric pusher. Any other tips.

Alan, I built mine a few years ago when only the plan was available, I believe he now also does a vac form set and some laser cut parts. The build was quite involved but if you like proper building, planking etc you'll be right at home. Using the aluminium wing joiner to jig the fuselage formers is a nice touch. I'm a real Vulcan afficianado and of all the ones I've seen only the SHM version has the right profile and right 'sit' in the air, flies lovely. I build mine for PSS and still fly it.

There's a few construction shots in the album but this was before I started doing proper build blogs.

WOW Matt very impressive thanks for your replies.

Mark, I ordered a couple of your Vulcan models. Not heard anything more. If you can't supply them that is fine but just let me know.

Alan I'm working through many requests for the kits, and working down the list in order.

Your request for two epp Vulcan's should soon be fulfilled. 4 kits have gone out this week - good news is your getting near the top of this list, it could be as soon as a week on Tuesday the 17th March (2015) I'll be in touch.

I was not happy with some of the cut's for the inner wing part and it caused me some delay about 3 weeks with a lot of scrapped material, wanting it to be the best I can do and get some consistency, I've re-engineered a cutting table and some of my jigs, to cope with the angled cut the hot-wire has to cope with in the mid-section to next wing section.

........oh sorry Matt there's that picture again you don't like, blush.............well we all like it at the PSSA, and your Big Vulcan is the bee's knee's.
