Just received the april edition through letterbox. excellent article on the spitfire. I think more articles on the full size aircraft should be a regular. Model boats mag produce articles on full size ships every month. Its always nice to know the history of the models that everyone is building. Make this a regular for the mag please. Off now to get some reading done.

Sorry TK I don't agree - It's a model magazine and they shouldn't waste content or pad it out with full size stuff - you can get that from specialist magazines like Aeroplane Monthly or FlyPast .

Aeromodeller and Flying Scale Models both contained full size aircraft histories relating to included plans where appropriate, for scale designs this was entirely relevant and far from a waste of content.

I think Keith is referring to a little 2-page piece that includes a Spit instrument panel that can be re-sized to fit in sport and scale models. Andy Sephton adds some notes to go alongside explaining what everything does.

A good video here of a Spitfire start up and procedure for take-off, the pilot is Neil Williams

Got mine today which was a much needed boost. Very interesting copy, just seems to be getting better. May just have to build a Cutlass and am awaiting the future publication of the SIPA Minijet. Crikey, so many projects and so little time!

Not read it yet but I cant agree with the "its a model mag keep full size stuff out!!" comments, the way the article has been done is aimed at the scale modeler, and Andy Sefton is a fine example of a scale model builder, (and a very nice man) so why not have some insight and info to help the builders of models get things right, I would far rather read such an article than another review of another artf, but that's just me, and yes I do buy and read the "full size" magazines, I consider myself an aviation enthusiast in all its forms, not just a modeler, over the years there have been articles in the 1:1 press on model events and when that happens I am sure no one on here would complane

No problem ' Biggles Elder Brother' - I'm glad you enjoyed it, I like the section in this months mag - page 70-71 'Classic Cockpits'.

Here's some details on the pilot in the video :

Advert by Just Engines on page 121- for £87.00 they will sell a 'silencer' which will reduce the noise of your petrol engine to 84db.

Just enough to get you banned from lots of club sites and above the BMFA recommended level .question

Well as Andy Sephton is so involved with model aircraft and the piece did include the panel I think it was a great feature, and gives a wonderful insight. Some magazines contain three views of the full size, as Graham eloquently says we are all Total Aviation People.

Cheers

Danny

nice vid mark, my point about putting some 1:1 articles in was to help some of us who attempt to make a scale model from plans a little easier. I realise that it can be found online but it is so much nicer to see it in print. The articles and photos of 1:1 ships in model boats magazine were of immense help whee i was building scale boats. I have yet to see anyone objecting to them being included in the mag every month. I find these days there is far too much paper devoted to rtf planes. Surely by now everyone knows how to strap a wing and a tail to a foam fuzze? I`ve got to the point now of just ignoring the kit reviews unless it involves balsa bits and some real building.

Crikey you guys have the April issue.

Here in Australia I only got the March issue a few days ago.

Since last years Special issue they arrive here later and later.

We were getting them in the last half of the month before the cover date, now they are arriving a few days before the shops get them. They used to be about 2 issues behind a Sub.

It's getting to the point where we might as well get the issues with items of interest in them from the shop and not bother with the others.

Lovely video and great commentary. Just a shame he didn't talk us through what the pilot should be doing on take off and a bit of the flying. That would have been an insight.

Hi Bob,

It was a nice surprise for me too,

And seeing so much space given to the Sipa S-200 , Thanks Nigel thumbs up.

My only regret on that day was not thinking of asking Nigel if he would like ago at flying my Sipa S-200 ,

I know he would of enjoyed flying it , as all that have already had ago.

I am sure i spotted that Nigel flies Mode 1 .

The wait will be well worth it .

All that have flown it have commented on how stable it is , how fast it is and aerobatic with so much predictability it is as tough it is on rails .

P.S On the day i flew it slow for the cameras or as slow as i was felt comfortable with, given there was so much activity on the flight line .

Trust me it is like a pylon racer at full chat .

Then again i may of over powered it as it will fly very well on just 175 Watts .

Steve
