I recently purchased a 5' wingspan Chipmunk at Wings and Wheels and a lovely thing it is too. Apart from the Lazer engine it has sprung oleos with a stablilising strut that runs to the rear and connects to the aileron servo covers.

I had a very pleasant maiden flight with her and then an awful landing on the secnd flight resulting in the struts being damaged. Sorry I haven't included photos but as a general question; are these struts necessary??

Your thoughts please.

Pretty sure it is. The oleos are after market jobs not original fit as far as I can tell. I would have put a photo in but I'm at work.sad
