Steve,

I thought I'd had my time with auto gyros (I think a few of my old models are still being flown?) but the finish on your green one is superb. I think I might have to build another.

Very kind. Yes I am really pleased with this model. The transparent covering and silver trim really set off Rich's Classic and shapely design.

Flys as good as it looks too

Well its taken me ages to get to finish my ic powered 1.2x Cruiser but its done

I wanted to keep the see through covering theme going that Rich started.....but the only colour left that hadnt been done was yellow......and boy is it yellow!!, so it had to be a Kenny Roberts Yamaha scheme.

Now if it would only dry up, warm up and stop blowing a gale............

Had the pleasure of meeting up for our first Gyro Fly-In of the season at Reading and District MFC today. Flew a few sorties along with Steve Jones green Cruiser and really enjoyed it, what its all about.

A few snaps I managed to capture of our machines together and a couple of Steve's doing what it does best.

Hi Richard,

Just a few lines with regard to the Cruiser build, I started it last year with a diversion into hospital. Now back to the Cruiser, With regard to the homemade blades, if I go down this route are the blade holding centres changed in view of the fact that the home made blades are of a different chord to the commercial ones and does this chord difference affect the distance of the blade hole from the tip of the blade?

Any assistance would be appreciated,

Yours etc.

Mac Reid.

Hi Mac and welcome to the forum smiley

The tip to hole centre shouldnt change but you are quite correct regarding the positioning of the mount hole cordwise across the blade. This will alter slightly but as long as you measure your cordwise CG and follow the write up it will be fine.

As a side not the home made blades will give a little extra lift and also spin up quicker.

Let us know how it goes and if you can we always like to see a few photos.

Here is a photo of another completed Cruiser, flown at this years Inter-Ex meet in Switzerland

Taking full advantage of the near perfect flying conditions over the weekend I decided to fit a set of skis to my enlarged Cruiser which has flown well all season on a 60" span two blade set up in pretty much all flying conditions.

Saturday saw an inch or so of the white stuff here in the West Midlands and managed to grab an hour in the afternoon to take her out and flatten a few Lipos. There was only me at the field but I enjoyed every minute. I took a few snaps and some video footage but it wasnt until I played the video back that I realised my daughter who can now pick up and play with pretty much anything shes not supposed to had obviously been playing with my phone as the camera lens had little finger prints all over it!. These caused a blur to the right hand side but I uploaded it any way. Unfortunately I couldn't get back to the field on Sunday due to more snow.

Good fun, enjoy

Rich

I know I am a little late to the party but I just discovered this thread, I am interested in building a Cruiser and so will be starting soon. I just purchased a Auto G-2 (HobbyKing) from a fellow club member and have been having great fun learning about autogyros from this. Anyway in order to build I have been generating some cut files for my CNC machine and will start by cutting out a short kit for myself and building from there. If anyone else needs a set of parts let me know. I can also be found on Facebook - search for Kanata Aircraft Models.

After 2years with no flying (wife's illness) and with 2 models built but not flown I felt I had to do something so decided to build an autogyro. With plans for Panther and Cruiser to choose from I remembered buying a set of blades for the Cruiser so, decision made I started cutting all the ply formers then checked with HK for the C30 head assembly. The heads are no longer available ! Does anyone know of an alternative source or do I have to make my own, based on the Panther unit?
