Durafly D.H.100 Vampire from HobbyKing. Has sold really well since it first came out. Second improved version now available. If it flies like this on a rough day, roll on Summer for more fun with it.

Sure it takes skill to fly a turbine RC jet...but it takes even more skill and experience to be able to deal with things when they go wrong. Here Mick Burrell's Hawker Hunter suffers an engine flameout part way through its demonstration flight at the Southern Model Show. Other RC pilots would panic...

A highlight of many UK RC Shows is the Panic Display Team flying their radio controlled Avicraft Panic biplanes in formation in various aerobatic manoeuvres. How they don't collide is anyone's guess. Skill of the pilots and their coordination is key to them all arriving back home after a superb flying demonstration. Seen here at the Southern Model Show 2017.

The first in a series of short vids showing some of the best (and not so good) landings at Shows and Events I filmed at last year. Conditions aren't always favourable but, has to be said, the pilots always do their best to put on a great demonstration even if the wind is gusting across the runway.

At 1.7m wingspan this is one BIG foamie. Bigger is better and this Grand Tundra flies much like it's original 1.3m version from 2 years ago but in a BIGGER much more stable way. Same big Bush wheels, same big barn door flaps...but there are some awesome new enhancements. 6 part light system is one nice addition as are the turbulators on top of the wing to reduce the stall speed.

Safety's off. Time to fling the NEW Avios Grand Tundra around a bit.

Not often you will see a biplane jet. Just looks kinda weird...but it does fly well. Landing was a big disappointment but easily resolved. Will fly again soon!

I've used the RunCam2 micro camcorder quite a bit over the years to get some great onboard shots from some of the larger models at the shows and events. Here's a first compilation of some select clips from recent projects. For this season I've got a HD 360 camera that will enable the viewer to pan the view themselves! Looking forward to trying that out on a few large scale models.

Steve Elias flies his 1:5 scale F-16 at the recent Classic Jets event in Abingdon. Super smooth scale flying at its best.

Probably the most futuristic looking turbine jet out at the moment. Very distinctive and sounds great due it's relatively short thrust tube.

Dave Wilshere flies Bob White’s CARF Skygate Hawk for its 4th flight. This is CARF Model's biggest Hawk at 1:3.75 scale, guided by Jeti Radio with Powerbox Royal and JR servos. Powered by a Behotec 220 turbine engine. Smoke and pilot to be added soon.

It was going well until a flameout coming down the runway...fortunately John executed a masterful belly landing.

This model is built from a Jetwelt kit (no longer made as they are sadly no longer in business). Powered by a G-Booster 160).

The first application of our new 360 camera. I attached it just behind the canopy of my turbine powered CARF Models UltraFlash sport jet. With its JetCat P160SX engine this jet will get to ~250mph.

This camera allows you the viewer to change the field of view both horizontally and vertically by using your pointer. Pan to the rear of the jet to see it climb out steeply or pan to the front to scorch across the strip. Enjoy !

You're welcome John. I'll be using it a lot more on future projects. So many ways we can use it.

Thats awesome.

Funnily enough I couldnt get it to work on my iPad, but on my laptop the ability to scan around (with the mouse) is fantastic.

That should produce some really great videos.

Well done.

Tim

Great to hear you enjoyed it Tim. Agree...it's going to be a fun piece of kit to use this year.

Moving on to your next vid. This is a compilation of the action from the Classic Jets event which brings together the best in Kerosene powered models.

My buddy James brought an old Kyosho Learjet off eBay 3 years ago...and over last few months gradually put some time into restoring it. This is an old ARF from Kyosho and originally had brushed motors in the fans and fixed landing gear. James replaced with nice 64mm EDF system with brushless motors and retractable landing gear. Question remaining was would it fly off our relatively small bumpy landing strip?

I was quite amazed by this. I had never seen or even heard of a Magnus Effect plane until Finley showed up with what looked like an upside down lawn mower. He's a very articulate kid and talked me through the physics of how this thing works. It doesn't just work...it flies really well...and he built it totally from scratch. Quite looking forward to seeing what he comes up with next.
