Never heard of mixing screen wash with paint before. Where did that idea come from?

You often see in the Airbrush forums Johnsons Klear recommended to mix in with acrylics to 'keep the paint wet' and not dry on the nozzle, something to do with the way it affects the surface tension, I've also seen the windscreen wash mentioned as in the USA they use a product called 'Windex' window cleaner in their mixes. In all honesty, I found there is no advantage to it except to make the mix smell nicer.

This is the way I paint using masks:

1. Cut mask using my vinyl cutter and apply.

img_3476.jpg

2. Paint edges with corresponding colour to prevent bleed.

img_3478.jpg

3. Paint top colour.

img_3479.jpg

4. Carefully peel off the mask.

I had a bit of an oops moment when the wing fell off the table and damaged the corner. Out with the filler.

Not much to show for half a day tinkering today.

I have cut out the remaining horns and sorted the servo bearers.

That's funny. When I realized you were using some kind of cutter and went looking. This is the one that I found! Have not purchased yet but it seems to be a great tool for the shop! Thanks! Can you cut lettering in vinyl to stick on a plane also? Instead of creating a template to paint "through"?

Yes, it will cut vinyl decals - in fact it will cut all sorts of paper, card, vinyl - even fabric (I have only used it to cut paint masks so far). I think it is a good piece of kit for the price.

This weekend I got the canopy painted, added some weathering around the exhaust stacks and applied a satin clear varnish coat.

Thanks Martian.

Today's job is to put it on the CofG tester and see if I can get it balanced with just battery, ESC and receiver positioning.

Has yours flown yet?

Geoff...
