Thanks Martin.

No, the spinners and props are just taped on for the piccies and I have not tested the motors with the props/spinners on yet.

Which alloy ones are you using (I might need the extra weight upfront!)

The HK 3 blade 3.5" ones which would probably not fit your model but the weight definitely came in handy.

Thanks Mike.

As you say - a bit pricey!

Are they the ones that you have used?

Have just realised that I have made a slight blunder........ I forgot to add any horn support blocks on the rudder.

Having made up a horn from some epoxy glass sheet.

It was out with the knife.

I tinkered with the hinging of the gear doors today. I bit of trial and error to get them in the correct place.

They needed to be close to the outside edge and angled in, to ensure a good fit to the doors when closed.

I took advantage of a half decent bit of weather today and squirted some grey primer around.

First light coat going on in my makeshift spray booth.

Looks great! Interesting that you sprayed with the control surfaces attached. Much easier! I did them separately. Looking forward to seeing the final paint! I will be doing my maiden in a couple of weeks, will send pics..

Looking forward to your maiden results Mike. Not had the patch conditions/courage to re test mine after the major repairs and changes.

Good luck with the maiden Mike, hope all goes well. I always find it a bit of a 'squirty bottom' moment!

I have rubbed down the primer with we & dry, filled any imperfections and rubbed that down.

It is now ready for the final colours to go on.

No, sorry, the black pics have suddenly appeared as normal.

Back to the spinners FYI. Mine are 3 3/4 counter rotating Tru-Turn. They are really nice and spin totally true. All set now for maiden next weekend weather (want it to be perfect!) pending..spinner.jpg

Geoff: What are you using?

Mike, I am hoping to use the vac-formed ones supplied by Tony. Will have to see how things pan out.

I did a bit more spraying yesterday.

I thought I would try Valspar paint mixed at B&Q. I am thinning it with blue car screen wash.

The wash I have is concentrated so I have diluted to 25% with water.

Then I mixed 100ml paint with 30ml diluted wash.

It seemed to spray on and cover quit well.

Never heard of mixing screen wash with paint before. Where did that idea come from?

I got a bit of flying in on Saturday and took advantage of the weather to paint the camouflage on Sunday and today.

The method that I tried this time was to cut a mask and use rolled up masking tape to hold it off the surface a bit.

This gave a feathered edge effect.

It looks good Geoff. I have not seen the rolled up sticky tape technique before, but it appears to be very effective.

Keep posting!
