Missus and I arrived around 8.45AM a couple of members there already preparing things. Weather was dull and cloudy, but dry as we arrived. Managed to squeeze 5 models plus a wife into the car.

Took my newly leccified Wotty4, my last remaining IC model - my S/A Spitfire, GWS tiggy moth, Alfa Sabre, and the flyings wings "suprfly". Wifey had an excellent 20 minutes or so flying the supafly before others arrived. Several visitors made the trip, including the ever friendly and very talented Mr Arwel Jones of the Anglesey / RAF Valley club, the one and only Nathan Farrell-Jones of our club and Delyn club, and from the Wirral the superb young talent and smashing bloke that is 17 yr old Graham Roscoe.

In all we had some 20 or so flyers, and a fair mix of models including a baby boomerang Jet turbine, several very large Caps, Yaks and Extras, with a few of our own members bringing assorted types including electric ( see its not JUST me )  - Leigh Hodson brought his fly-fly Sabre, and also his new electric Nijhuis Lanc. Everyone managed to fly something during the day, with the worst casualty being nothing more than a broken prop or 2.

The light wind was not blowing well - pretty much across the strip unfortunately, but this didn't stop us having some excellent flights from all the above mentioned pilots and more.... Highlights for me were probably the baby Boomerang jet, NFJs smokin' display, and young Mr Roscoe demonstrating that kids definitely have no fear ! He's a name to watch out for in the coming years....both these top pilots will be featured in the major shows this year of course, and we are very lucky to have NFJ in our very own club these days. Nathan brought 2 gorgeous Jet turbines, including the very smart black eurofighter... but wisely elected not to fly them at our strip due to a rather shorter than ideal strip for such fast models...as it was, even the baby boomerang trainer had to hit the long grass to curtail its landing run.

Unfortunately the weather gods tricked us all yesterday with a beautiful sunny day, and today took revenge by sending grey skies and rain by around 2.30PM. Many people started to pack away around 3PM...but at least we all got to fly this time - unlike the electric day earlier in the year. Here's a few pictures...I don't have a posh camera any more...so its point and shoot stuff only I am afraid.

Bigger and better if you click 'em though ....Timbo.

Arwel's very nice Jetcat P80 powered baby boomer - hey Arwel, get some wheel brakes for next time

The man himself with the rather superb 100" CAP 580 - DA 100cc petrol powered.

The baby on a fast pass .....sure helped to keep the bulls off the strip during the day !

Heres young Graham Roscoe with his very nice Extreme flight ( who are his sponsors ) Yak 54 with MVVS 58cc and KS tuned pipe, swinging a 24 X 10 Menz prop, and same span Extra ( 88" ) with a DA50 and carbon pipe with 23 X 8 prop. He left his fabulous electric 58" span Extra 260 at home today, but I saw him fly it brilliantly at Delyn a couple of weeks back.

NFJs mobile goody store......the jets are just visible, but never left the ground / van today.

The famous scratch designer and builder and electric convert Mr Gordon Robinson - own design US marked SE5a at 1/5th scale and 60" span - 8s 3700 LiPo with an AXI motor swinging a 15 X 8. 10lb AUW solartex and enamel.

Gordon calls this other own design beauty the "ASWAS" cos its as aeroplanes was in the good ol days.

Again LiPo battery, Schulze ESC and plettenberg direct drive inrunner. Gorgeous.

Well done and a big thanks to all who turned and we look forward to seeing you and more, on the next event.

Nice pictures Tim!  I'm gutted I coudln't make it in the morning, pesky weddings in London!  I turned up just as everyone was leaving, and managed to scare the rain off by having a few flights of a model rocket (Mr Barnes should have some video soon), and if anyone sees a small red and silver rocket, about 15" tall, somewhere in the Rhyl/Rhuddlan Area, can you let me know please!

Cheers
Andy

Getting it back in one piece is another matter!!!

It is said that you can fly a brick if the breeze is strong enough. (Quite where you put the servos...)

It was one of my Model rockets (with a real, fire breathing, rocket engine!) that was lost...  Recovery parachute failure it looks like

Cheers
