Overall I had a great day. Not been there for a couple of years, but the lack of traders was noticeable. Even TJD didn't have a stand - just the display team.

Up for discussion. Fokker DR1, huge scale. Flown like a 40 size extra, prop hanging, harriers, and so forth. Multicolour smoke eminating from each of the wingtips. Pilot's name emblazened uderneath. I love my scale but definitely not like this...

Unfortunately it came a cropper when the pilot (no names) tried to land it backwards into a headwind and it stuffed into the long grass and tipped over.

Not for me.

Look on the bright side Steve, you aren't still there trying to cook your dinner in a howling gale

What traders were there? I might go tomorrow depending if there is sufficient trade stands to make it worthwhile

I was told by Steve Carr's Team that the DR1 will be repaired and flying tomorrow. Minor damage to a wing tip.

Yes and I'm not happy ad the beer tent is 4.50 a pint and they have run out of cider. Unacceptable behaviour, althogh it probably means I will be in a fit state to fly tomorrow which is a plus

kc - SLEC, Balsa Cabin, Al's Hobbies, the usual cheap tool supplies round the back.. Rapid..Horizon hobbies.. Nexus, a few big-model suppliers, no TJD, etc.

Dave P - yes the DR1 is certainly a sight to see. Airborne in 6' of runway and so on. However don't expect Dawn Patrol scale flying though. Or anything like it... Gald to see it wasn't a major casualty as it seemed to go in gently.

Most of the Traders are here. This is now, this evening. Missing are Ripmax, Horizon and TJD and maybe one or two others, but Als, Inwood, and some newer traders are here.

£4.50 a pint ! I bet it's not even proper 🍺, just had a couple at my local Spoons at £2.05 for a nice pint of Black Tor Brewery Down Draught ( 10p to Devon Air Ambulance for every pint sold) but sadly no free model display 😋

What was the attendance like? I'm not sure why, but a few years ago W&W was like a busy day at the club, bumping in to fellow members every few minutes. This year, I'd be surprised if half a dozen go through the gate...

No Ripmax? Having a poke through the junk bargains was one of the highlights! I'm not so sorry I can't get there this year now!

Glad I gave it a miss, Many traders missing over the past few years. It will go the way the Nats did some time ago when the cost of setting up a stall became uneconomic.

Its a sad state of affairs. Carlsberg and Guinness is all they have unless they get more strongbow

I went last year and it was just ok. Given it was the 30th anniversary I assumed it would something really special. I was disappointed. Trade was ok, swapmeet was ok and flying was average. Weston Park beats it hands down. Perhaps thats the problem. WP was only a week ago, although W&W caters for a different geographic location to some extent.

Too many similar shows too close together?

Interesting how Nexus had a big stand and included a lot of HH stuff. Plenty of stock on the Rapid RC stand, too. Very few "show bargains" though, I guess most traders have their sales on line.

There seemed to be plenty of punters, the traders seemed pretty busy, you couldn't move at the Component Shop for most of the day. Plenty of trade going on at SLEC and The Balsa Cabin too. Lots of models at the bring and buy, although some people price their stuff very optimistically.

Flying was mostly jets and large petrol jobs. No multi engine jobs. Couldn't tell you what most of them were as the guy on the mike didn't seem interested in telling us anything about them, especially after lunch. Never thought I would miss Dave Bishop!

It's a shame they aren't able to offer local ales from local breweries as I'm sure they'd do really well.

My last visit to RNAS Yeovilton Air Day there was a local cider producer selling direct and they were rammed most of the day, St Austell Brewery were there and busy all day and the usual no name van selling very expensive Carlsberg etc and you'd think they were selling the plague ?????

I did watch the display as well but just happened to base myself near the refreshments.

Wish I'd gone to Weston this year so will visit next year, wonder what their 🍺 offer is ?

But as they say John, any port in a storm.

I was OK as I brought my own supplies. But that's not the whole story as sitting in a tent on your own drinking is probably not a good sign!

A very big tent 90 percent empty only 5 tables. Don't drink so didn't sample anything
