is it right that moderators can simply control the content of posts just because they maybe dont agree with the content or its against their commercial interests,

having been on the receiving end myself for expressing an informed opinion in the past which a moderator didnt like i just wonder if free speech is being censored

i expect this post to be pulled !

I too thought that. Frankly, I think the deletion of certain recent posts speaks volumes. In fact, I've cancelled my subscription as a result of this and previous posts that were deleted.

No, it isn't right. I've been censored before simply because I was outspoken enough and they didn't agree with me. I've had tens of thousands of posts on dozens of forums without issue.

Far too over zealous here.

edited to add: it would be great if this thread could be left open for SENSIBLE discussion with a view to improving moderating rather than it being silentlt removed.

Interestingly I've had a PM from someone who doesn't want to post on the thread but agrees with the posts above. It seems a few of us share the same view.

3 posts being locked in quick succession is censorship and is very wrong.

But all three were on broadly the same topic. If a thread is locked and another is started to replace it, it it really so surprising that it gets locked too?

No that is not right. It's wrong. Very wrong.

But that's not what is happening.

The Traplet threads were closed to prevent misinformation cluttering the actual situation. I think that's fair enough.

I'm not a mod, and I have no personal bias towards any of the mods. Personally, I use this site rather than any of its rivals precisely because it is well moderated to keep stuff on track, and avoid clutter. Who wants to scroll through 100+ pages of junk? Not me!

I also agree with TWS too, to a degree, but the over moderation has been going on for years and goes much further than the recent Traplet threads.

The Traplet situation is currently far from clear and it must be remembered that their employees are going through a worrying time, so picking over the bones here with speculation and ill-informed comment could be considered insensitive at least. Furthermore, this forum is part of RCME and the magazine would not want to give the impression that it endorses open discussion of a competitor's woes and commercial situation.

Until a clearer picture emerges, you have been asked by David Ashby to reserve comment. That is why threads will be locked until then.

Moderation of comments isn't done lightly and without good reason. All we are asking for is your cooperation for the time being, thanks.

I'll not be sending out PM's to each of you this time. A link to the Code of Conduct is available at the foot of each page.

I'll leave this thread up but locked for the benefit of those who wish to persist in raising the issue.
