Obviously those recommending Appliances Online haven't had to deal with them when trying to get something repaired!

Avicraft yes

Although, sadly they do not sell washing machines.....

Th eonly issue with Avicraft is one of geography. No matter what route I take from Erith to Bromley, It goes through every traffic hotspot imaginable (Bexxly, Chislehurst..) - the route to TJDs is to hop on to the A2, quick cut across country and I'm there..

PS it's about time they sussed their website too. It's been in development for far too long

I agree Stevo, I can walk to TJD, but unfortunately they wouldn't recognise customer service if it slapped them in the face.

Really interesting as washing machines and care-contracts for them doubtlessly are (not) - it is also way off topic! So, I think we've have "done that" now chaps in that case can we either; stick to the aeroplanes here, or start another thread on the fasinating topic of washing machine maintenance elsewhere - preferably on another forum in another universe wink 2

Thanks

BEB

I have used both TJD and Avicraft for many years for different interests.

Avicraft have got to be the most friendly and helpful and knowledgably place going. If they carried more stock they would be busy everyday.

TJD have always been good but lately I have seen a change in the staff, much younger and not as helpful and efficient.

Only my opinion.

Yes Gary, I subscribe to that. When I visited (for the last time!) I've not seen any of the staff there before, and the younger ones knew nothing at all.

I'll know endevour to visit Avicraft when I can... Rob used to live in Erith and used to drop stuff at my door FoC

There is a lot more stuff on the walls in Avicraft these days, including cut kits for Panics etc.....

An epilogue

I have been contacted by TJD, a very positive reponse indeed.

I won't go into the conversation, I will only add that they have taken on board the comments here; I will be meeting with them shortly.

Thank you to all who contributed here - and of course for TJD and their reponse.

Perhaps we should also send a "mystery shopper" to report back in due course?

Haha! I wouldn’t waste the shoe leather. They said, in response to previous complaints ages ago, that they would be more active on the forum dont know they are obviously too busy serving customers and keeping the website updated - I wouldn’t give them the time of day.

Actually, they posted in May 2013 and said they’d try and be more active. They had three posts then.....they still have three posts now...

They use me to let them know when they need to look at something on a forum but in recent years I have been bored with forums so left them alone. I've only started looking again when I was told of this thread. I looked, informed John and he seems to be addressing it.

Hello everyone. I thought I would come on here myself and try and get involved personally. I am one of the owners and the day to day manager at tjd models.

Firstly I would like to make a open apology to Stevo for driving all the way down and not getting the kit that he reserved. It turns out later the kit was in stock but was not in its normal location. Staff are trained to go and find any product customers call up for before reserving it but the new staff member Stevo spoke to make a mistake. (He has been shown this thread and is now aware of what issues are caused by not checking stock).

People have commented that We have had a lot of staff changes recently and this is correct. We have currently lost a very long standing member of staff due to cystic fibrosis and hope to have him back after a life saving operation. Within months we also lost 2 more long standing staff to further education. This has meant new faces and staff that are admittedly not as knowledgeable as I would like to put in the shop in one time. I am however the founding member of the shop starting it 13 years ago. I am an active flyer and general modeller and work 5-6 days a week in the shop. Please feel free to ask for me IF you decide to come back.

Do we get it right all of time. clearly not judging by some of the people on this forum. I do take on board when I see we get something wrong and we do try and change.

I would like to personally invite any of and especially Rich (as you live so close) to stop by for a tea or coffee and tell me what we have done wrong and what you would like to see in the future. Model shops are becoming a rare beast and every year it gets harder with fewer model flyers.

If you wish to call me directly and discuss anything please call me on 07768 041754.
