Overlander do purpose built packs for Futaba and JR check out www.overlander.co.uk abit more expensive but takes the hassel out of making your own or ordering from oversea`s.

Ive been using a 2700mah tornado since Weston Park and its been faultless

yeh.... a "bit more expensive" being 200 % more.

As for hassle.... I ordered my last lot of packs from H/C on Monday evening last week, and they were in my hands Thursday morning.

Nope this is a Hong Kong supplier but all prices are shown as US dollars. Customs and exise is a risk you take, and I am not saying whether I have been lucky or not ( PS I am lucky )

My soiree into TX lipo has ended in disaster with my blizzard and flyfly hawk getting stoved in due to the high voltage of the Lipo degrading the voltage regulator and transistors in my 35Mhz JR PCM 9xII, I had used the flightpower 1500 TX lipo for about 8 months without problem until disaster struck a week ago.

I'm going back to Nimh's until they upgrade their technology or there is more testing on the uprated switching regulator http://www.dimensionengineering.com/DE-SW033.htm

I have fitted a lipo in my older FF9 but to be honest if you fit a 2500mah nihm pack and compare it against a 2500mah lipo the only gain you get is the lipos ability to hold it's charge longer plus you run the risk of taking your gear above it's specced voltage. I think my new 10C will be staying on Nihms or the Nicads it was supplied with. Thanks for the headsup James, sorry you had to learn the hard way

james...very sorry to hear of the losses! That means you have built flown and wrecked the fly fly hawk before I have even built mine

Which regulator were you using in the set - the original, or a replacement ?

You have me worried now

I was using the one that came with the set, the syptoms were the most concerning ....

Everything checked out pre-flight (range etc), take off ok then after a couple of minutes fail safe, apparently it was the regulator overheating. What I am told is that this does not occur straight away it is progressive degeneration of the components due to the CONSISTENTLY high voltage of the lipos, although Nimh's etc are initally the same they drop very quickly, something Lipo's don't

Until a week ago I was a convert to the Lipo TX but now I'm scratching around for a use of my 1500mah TX. I'm not very happy and have written to the manufacturer of the Lipo with the details, I know it will lead to nothing but it helps.

The only plus point I have is that it wasn't my Tug that went in !

Apparently if you want to check the status of your gear hold onto the tranny (its important you hold onto it for the current draw) and sit infront of the telly wagling the sticks with a couple of servos nearby, after a while it may get rather hot but miraculously doesn't with Nimh's

Please don't flame this post with 'its all bo**ox mine are champ and I've used them for xx years etc etc' This happened to me luckily no one got hurt !
