Interesting variation Dave, I imagine that's a lot lighter than the balsa variant.

Its about 7.5oz with a 3s 450... and it flies rapidly on 3s at just 1/2 power.. more than fast enough for a park fly, it will slow down easy enough for landing.. The KF top step smooths out the flight nicely.. It also flies well enough on a 2s, still having vertical performance.

The 2205 quad motor gives more than enough power,

Hi Dave,

Thats very neat. I'll fwd this to a fellow aeromodeller that builds his models exclusively out of Depron (the latest big thing he built was a Martin Mars model - I'll post some pics ASAP). Probably he will have a go at this.

As the trad built Mini Blitz is supersonic, this setup and the lightness of materials surely will make it go hypersonic!

I wish you many pleasurable flights!

Regards,

Paulo

All done ..now with some colour on top, and white below..

The motors used were 2204-2280 kv, not 2205...

AUW with a 450 3s is 7.5 oz... area 200.6"sq.. wing loading 5.4 ozsqft...

The depron KFm2 Mini Blitz flew today..

Definitely fast enough, and the throttle on 3s was only up at about 25% for the majority of the flight...but the 6x4 prop was draining the lipo too quickly.. Ive now got a 6x3 on it..
At the launch there is a noticeable torque roll in the opposite direction to the prop rotation..be aware..
Control responses are fast even on very low rates... using only +- 1/4 inch .... so the first lower powered launch was a bit hairy, I had the rates up a bit higher ...lol... they were quickly turned down.
The wind today was from the flats and it was bashing the lightweight 7.5 oz model about..
2s was worst, 3s not so bad, and likely using a larger lipo will make an improvement, adding some extra weight to beat the wind.
It flies on 2s but needed about 75% throttle to cruise on.

I now built a 20 inch foamie version out of the B&Q green underlay.

Im running it on a Quad 1806 2300kv with a 5030 quad prop and a 12amp esc and a 1000mah 3S lipo it draws around 115watts

I did have a 6030 prop on it at first but it was too much for my little esc

Im surprised at just how well it flies

im getting 5mins flat out and 7mins at around 1/3 to half throttle and it drops to about 3.9v per cell

I actually built this to try an Frsky S6R receiver out before I put it in my balsa build, I think I will just get another S6R receiver now for that
