1. I haven't said it shouldn't be here in the chit-chat section. (Although a 900+ post thread on an issue not related to the topic of the forum does, personally, make me wonder if it souldn't be somewhere else - like on a nother forum).

2. A significant number of members PMed me when the thread was active before (far more than have ever connected me on the topic of any other single thread), stating they think the thread is boring and repetative - even asking for it to be closed. I have always declined such requests as: firstly, you're right they don't have to read it, secondly we only close threads for either structural reasons (repetition of an existing thread) or because they breech the CoC. Sadly there is nothing in the CoC about endlessly going round in circles!

3. As a moderator sadly I do have to look at it to ensure it needs no maintainance or other action - even when I don't want to.

If they found it boring and repetative, why on earth did they bother to read it? surprise

And they read it all, then ask for it to be closed? Unbelievable. If they don't like this thread there are plenty of others.

Isn't that what Mary Whitehouse used to do?   "I'm not interested in it/ don't like it, so nobody else should see it either".

Percy, Where do you get the idea the I Pace sells well. It shifted 140 units in August.

If it's selling so poorly Don, why might JLR be considering moving to 100% EV production in as little as "five to seven years"?

And it isn't an idea I have that electric cars are selling well, it's a fact. Here's a feature from the Guardian....  https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/aug/26/electric-cars-exceed-1m-in-europe-as-sales-soar-by-more-than-40-per-cent

As I havd said Percy, we don't accept such requests, which is why the thread is still here! But IIRC someone asked what made me think people found it boring - well that does! Just answering the question really.

PS I suggest you just get on with your thread now and I will look in from time to time (when I feel I have the stength) to check all is well, there are no duplicate posts and you haven't strangled each other yet!

Oh look, a duplicate post I have to delete - see Phil I do need to look in, its my job. wink 2

Percy you realy must try to read the posts more carefully, I'm fully aware of who the OP was and I never said I believed it was your personal thread, even though you may well be the originator of the largest number of posts in it. My comment was in a PS, a separate paragraph, (new subject) and I was using the plural form of "your" meaning all of those who wish to continue this thread.

I haven't read any of the other posts!!!

I was looking at a colleague's EV the other day, and noticed there wasn't a charging socket at which point he explained it charged from the engine and when the computer decided it was worth switching to the electric motor it did it automatically.

His car is four years old, this would answer the problem of charging if you live in a tower block etc.

Just thought it was a good idea, shows how little I know of these things!

I think they'd have done hybrids by now if they had wanted to Nigel. But it seems they went all out 100% electric instead. It appears to have paid off, as the I Pace is selling strongly from what I gather. The base version has a healthy price advantage over the Tesla too......

Rich

If you feel the subject has been done to death, feel free to ignore the thread.......smiley

Apologies Percy, perhaps I worded that wrongly. I am interested in the topic - a couple of friends have Tesla’s - but currently they only practical if you can charge them at home.

My neighbour has the Toyota C-HR Hybrid, 1.8 litre petrol automatic, and this does in excess of 70mpg

She goes off to work early in the morning, and you just don't hear a thing

This is the most beautiful looking car IMHO

No need for apologies Rich....

I'm not exactly sure, but I'm given to understand Tesla use their own type of charging connection, which is different from most others? Reading between the lines this seems to allow a quicker charge/greater current? The domestic charging station Tesla offer looks the business for those whom do charge at home though....

I have actually started to notice a few Teslas in my area, particularly more towards the Lakes area. And also a scattering of Nissan Leafs (Leaves?)

Denis

It's odd how people's judgements and opinions differ so much. Apologies in advance, but I find that particular Toyota hideously ugly........
