A good friend (from school days) recently gave me his completed model, as he now flies the full size and has not flown models for years. This model was completed 10/15 yrs ago, is equipped with a new Zenoah 45 and Futaba s3001 servos.

I have it on the bench and will give it a good going over and a bit of modernising in terms of equipment - e.g. twin switches and LiFe batteries. It is so well built and covered I do not want any mishaps!

One thing I do need is a manual, does anyone have one? I have contacted Glen a few times but he is mysteriously off the grid.

I bought it coz I love Sukhois, far too big for my car, Fuji wasn't very good, mate has DA 50 so deal was done.

With the DA50 it should be a great combo.

I'm not to keen on that wing bolt plate, is it the same as yours? Looks like a disaster waiting to happen, so I may look at how I can reinforce it.

I've also just noticed that the air exit area in the cowl is very small....

I’m now having second thoughts on the servos. These days it is recommended that MG servos are used with petrol motors, and the s3001 does not have MG’s......

Re the 3001 - it's also a bit weedy for a 50cc model in my view. I had good luck with HK mg servos, both MG996Rs and the HXT equivalent, 14K rings a bell. Neither type let me down but my first choice would be Savox just for the 'brand name' factor, 0251MG for rudder and 0252MG for the rest.

Hi Rich.

C.G 5-6 inch back from leading edge at fuzz...5 1/4 optimum for knife edge.

Throws..Elevator 3/4 up n down.

Ailerons 1inch up down...no differential.

Rudder 2 inch L-R.

Recommends 10 inch pitch on prop because of high drag, from airframe, cowl. Nose may pitch up on landings coz of big radial cowl.

Just to make sure, those are the total travel figs, or each way? thanks John yes

Yes, my mate did a cracking job on the covering scheme - looks like he used Glen's decal set, but still a lot of work....

ps I am slightly concerned that I haven't heard from Glen despite half a dozen emails. he did respond initially and then nothing - not like him at all....

Mine was well flown before I bought it Rich, recovered it then sold it on, couldn't afford a better engine for it, did it in the black/white Russian colors.
