Sadly I can't go to the Nationals this year, I was looking forward the evening 'chuck and duck'. I agree, the new arrangements look more appropriate, judging by what I have see on uTube channels of the event in previous years..

Also, i'm running the evening 2.4 electric flight-line, bring your electric models only, after 6:30 on Friday, Sat and Sunday evenings.

Common sense rules are:

  • 2.4 Ghz only
  • Electric aircraft, drones, helis only. Drones cannot be flown anywhere else on the site, apart from the 2.4 or designated areas.
  • BMFA / Relevent insurance mandatory, with a minimum "A" cert. No insurance, no fly. No exceptions.
  • Please follow instructions of the Marshals and their decision is final.
  • No flying behind the pits area - and violations and will be told to land.

Only a matter of time until this happened and not before time. I have witnessed on may occasions when well known names in RC flying have launched overpowered , untrimmed models at a crowd of spectators ? Then there are the newbie F/Fers who don't have clue about trimming as they have only ever flown RC . Sunday is the worst for stupid behaviour as the models bought at the Swap meet are flown by their new owners who often don't have a clue . a clue . Unfortunately neither do some of the marshals .

Its a great tradtion of the Nats and long may it continue .

I enjoyed the mayhem to be honest, not surprised they've clamped down though.

...that slightly uncomfortable feeling of guilt, when you duck, but the guy behind you doesn't!

Q: Which part of building a new traditional balsa aeroplane do you enjoy the most?

 Research & choosing the model
 Building the fuselage
Installing the engine and radio systems
 Building the flying surfaces
 All of it!
None of it. I'd rather someone else did it!
