Storage wars, American pickers, Alaskan Gold, Tree houses, Ancestry, it is all TV for profit, fun and I watch it, but don't believe it is real.

It is difficult to find a genuine rebuttal of the DNA ancestry claims, as it is so ridiculous no accredited academic source would even address the issue.

DNA has been used to trace tribes of humans (as distinct from other animals) trekking across the globe centuries ago, no way can they find individual families!

23 thousand years ago Mrs Smith was looking for a Waitrose, no luck, she dies in the car park but we have captured her DNA.

Here is some info on a court case:**LINK**

This man supplies his dogs DNA, got good results, apparently his dog has an interesting and long human lineage (maybe it has a dog lineage as well, who knows, certainly not the DNA lineologhttps://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/longform/dna-ancestry-testists!:**LINK**

I have tried to put other links on, but failed. Suffice it to say, these ancestry sites are fun but not scientific. They will accept a pet's DNA because they do not have the resources, knowledge, experience, or the interest, to differentiate between them and human DNA. They are not professionals. They earn money from punters.

It is simply like going to a spiritualist church or a mind reader session- great entertainment while we are on holiday, but the information they give is ridiculous.

I agree with a lot of people saying that some of it is rubbish. However I am going to get mine done at some point but I will be using a specific dna group dedicated to my clan name. Here is a few videos on how they do it and it should show you how a £100 test has a good chance of giving false readings. I seen on YT a news organisations tested twins and they came back with different results and the company said ooohh we will change our algorithms. You really need to be part of a dedicated group for good information. Ancestry DNA don't seem to tell you what test they actually do most say do the 37 marker test which is around £100. Ancestry DNA might only be doing a 12 marker test for all we know. The English guy kinda rattled through the info but he has a lot of good stuff. You might not be able to understand the Scottish accent and the audio is not good on the second one. There is also a link to the nicknames of the specific lines under the main 3 haplogroups

Maybe it is true, I don't know.

I used to really enjoy Pawn Stars, American Pickers, and Storage Wars until I came upon impeccable evidence they were all false, scripted and made for TV.

Reality TV circumvents the law because it is sold as entertainment, not documentary journalism.

In the UK we have Posh Pawn, Wheeler Dealers, and Time Team- I worked with someone who claimed she worked on Time Team and she said they worked weeks on digs, not a weekend.

Sixty Minute Makeover- really?More like six days with a huge team.

No idea if they cheat people with the DNA test results Paul, I'll have a read up. Where do you read up though, tinternets the place of truth ? or is it just easy to find a bubble where folk agree with your own opinions ?

I wouldn't expect a test to put me in close contact with family nor tell me I'm connected to royalty (King Arthur), just curios about which strain of this mixed up Island I came from. My moneys on French and Druid, I do a passable Gallic shrug.

Talking of DNA, as you mostly are, did you hear that the forthcoming series of "CSI Moss Side" has been shelved after one pilot episode? Apparently there are no dental records, and all the DNA is identical.

Now this is silly.

Fingerprints are unique.

Dental records are unique.

DNA is unique.

All three can be used in evidence at law

Reality TV and ancestry tracing is fun and not bound by law.Try and convict someone for shill bidding (which is illegal but a common item on Storage Wars -you'll get nowhere because is entertainment, and not factual)- now I know I am conversing with fools.

Look up "gullible" in the dictionary, you will find there is no entry and has never been.

I tried to be kind pointing out this stuff is nonsense, obviously this is unpopular, so I'm out and off to the real world!
