I had hoped to get the second wing to the same stage as the first by tonight, but "Dad's" taxi service was in full swing, so alas didn't get the second layer of tissue on.

But we are still making progress. I am not sure about others, but when brushing dope, my mind wanders to all the future areas of the build, especially the rigging, which I pretty much have all sorted in my head. I have some fishing pliers on there way which should make the rigging ends a little easier. Have patience, you will see

Cheers

Upper wing panel has had the replacement HiTec servo fitted and the RDS adaptor adapted to fit the new arms, unfortunately the spacing was slightly out. The servo was left cycling for 30 minutes without issues.

A check of movement through the RDS torsion arms, and all looks pretty good. Everything will need to be loc-tited before I close up the patient. I realised I havent fitted a wooden bearing block in the trailing edge, need to do that next.

Jewellers Pliers arrived and I did a test bend of the rigging. The beauty of the tool is it allows me to easily bend loops in the piano wire.

A test run using an overly long piece of tube shows how it will work. One end will be adjustable.

Danny are your rigging wires staying part attached ?

I am hoping to leave some attached at one end. For example the landing wires.

Still all just ideas at the moment

I'm leaning towards leaving them attached to the wings it seems maybe easier to handle and keep tidy outside of assembled plane

I don't like to see clevises, if possible, so was going to fix the rigging where it is prominent. So may need to make some bags to tie the loose wires out of harms way.

I am disappointed with the fit of the wings to the Cabanes, may end up adding ply ribs to tidy the joint

I felt I hadn't really explained fully some of the benefits of using the RDS system, so a quick addendum video.

Oh yes, Martin asked, and I meant to show how I have re-enforced the root rib area of the wing panel, the tissue and dope, even though none shrinking nitrate still can exert some force!

just an upper and lower 3/32 load spreader.

Got the upper wing sanded, sealed and final sanding before the first layer of tissue.

Panic averted, aileron now had two layers of tissue and three coats of Banana oil, all ready for tapes and paint.

Wont make much progress for a while as work commitments intrude. But I did manage to cover the port wing upper surface with a layer of tissue.
