Very great loss.

I am sure that he will find a great club with permanently perfect weather in the next world.

I only knew Dave as "BEB" on here. I never met him, nor had I any idea who was behind the moniker - let alone that he was seriously ill. We had our occasional disagreements - usually about the BMFA - but I never doubted for a moment the sincerity of his views. On modelling matters in general, it was clear that he had a lot of knowledge and experience, which he was more than willing to share with those requesting help. As a moderator, he was thoughtful and effective.

He will be much missed.

My thoughts and sympathy to his nearest and dearest.

Another one of the "good guys" gone, alas.

I've only just seen this. I'm deeply shocked and saddened. Dave was a first-class contributor to the magazine and his loss will be sorely felt. Sincere condolences to his family.

Tim.

Very shocked and sad to hear of Dave's departure. Only knew him from the forum, mag and met once at Greenaces but very much admired his knowledgeable inputs and clear way of describing complex issues.

Condolences to all the family.

I met and chatted with Dave a few times at Greenacres. He was always a pleasure to talk to, and had a fabulous depth of knowledge. It is a genuine shame that he has passed away at an early age. He will be sorely missed by many.

Such sad news; I had the good fortune to speak to him in person when he was still in a senior role at LJM University in 2017. He immediately struck me as someone who balanced his evident intellect with humility and a friendly, helpful charm.

I always felt his contributions to this forum and the wider aeromodelling fraternity were considered and focused on helping anyone who needed assistance.

All in all a true gentleman who will be sorely missed.

Very sad to hear the news of Dave’s passing……

Along with Tim Mackey Dave was one of the first Moderators on the Modelflying forum & was, I believe, along with Tim, largely responsible for setting the tone of the forum as a place where all could express their views, seek help or whatever in a convivial & friendly atmosphere. In short a “nice” forum.

Engineer, academic, teacher, aeromodeller & family man Dave was a true polymath. He wore his great knowledge & intelligence lightly never seeking to belittle or insult others and he had that rare commodity, common sense, by the bucket load.

Shortly before the end Dave did say he would still be keeping an eye on the forum but would be sending thunderbolts instead of PMs….you have been warned wink 2

A great man…..he will be missed by all who knew him.

Very sad news. I never met BEB and only knew him from his contributions to this forum, but learned to respect him. He was one of those people that you would always listen to and think about what he said even if you didn’t agree with him.

He will be missed.

BEB

I never met him, but feel as if I knew him well just from his contributions on this forum and the bollocking I got from him when my contributions required moderation. I have great respect for him and his memory.

Such sad news. I am thinking of his friends and family.
