Lie in & late start this morning.

Removed the wing from the board which had an overnight set. Guess what, the epoxy & glue had run down & pooled of the film protecting the plan. Took a good hour to remove the excess from the wing. Sanded the FG tubes flush with the root rib, trial fitted a support rod, then glued the thin ply rib to the root rib & set aside to dry.

Then the bell went & it was the order from 4Max. Couldn't resist checking it. Being 11 years behind in leccy technology, I thought the motor was the wrong type as the outer casing rotated, not the shaft, couldn't fathom it until I looked at the drawing on 4Max's siteblush. Back to the board & the bell went again, it was another delivery, the Lipo's!!! Had to look at those so I unpacked them. I had had a Zippy before & it looked well made & the price was very competitive & no delivery charge, which I why I ordered them again. On unpacking the parcel, I noted something that shouldn't have been!, is the dirty tricks brigade at work???

Check picture 49 & give your opinions.surprise

Either no one is reading this thread or no one spotted the answer to the query in the last post. Maybe it was too perverse.

IMO one of our largest retailers is using nefarious means to ensure their products are the least expensive? Or could it be a genuine error. The clues are in the pictures.

Ok I'll bite - I assume you are talking about ion vs polymer?

Isn't Lithium Ion just a more generic term covering LiPo, LiFe etc? I don't see any problem or nefarious intent or advantage being gained.

Not the first time I've seen LiPoly batteries incorrectly described.

Whether it's a deliberate act to circumvent the postal regulations I cannot comment, however under Parcelforce and Royal Mail Ts & Cs the carriage of any new Lithium batteries not connected or part of an electronic device is not allowed

Extract from Ts & Cs on Parcelforce website on what may be sent:

Batteries, specifically new and used lithium batteries when not sent with or connected to an electronic device. No No

Why I posted this was, I was in two minds where to get my Leccy package from, motor esc lipos etc. one UK supplier was charging in for a carrier due to RM's restriction carrying them, the other multinational was offering free delivery. As I was spending almost £100, I opted for the lipo free delivery company. Now I know why the delivery was free, they were blatantly misusing RM. Naughty naughty? It could have been a packing error, but I doubt it.

For those doubters, Google "differentiate between Li-on & Lipo". RM will not carry lipo batteries.

RM will not carry lipo batteries.

According to their T&C they will , in exactly the way that HK sent them to you.

Well I'll be blowed, sounds like HK sent them correctly. Which then means the other UK retailer could send them via PF or RM, hopefully, he'll read this & change his conditions as it appears he's losing out on business.

Does he deserve to remain in business if he can't get the fundamentals of it right ?

That's not for me to say, I've dealt with him before & had good service.

Another lie in this morning, so not much done.

Added one of the L/E sheet strips last night & another this morning. The bendy drinking straws that I had ordered to use simulating the U/C shock absorber covers arrived. Added another sheet to the underside of the wing & the strut retention bracket. I didn't fancy the method of retaining the wing on the tubes by a screw through the top sheet into the tube, so decided to use my own method. This involves two bolts through the root ribs & fuselage side with a wing nut onto the bolt via the cabin. Further pictures when I reach that stage. Finally, added the support for the servo cover. pictures below.

Re lipo postage: backinblack shows what I have seen when looking, no lipo allowed - for individuals via the post office. However patmc gives 'account customer' rules which say yes. So whether you can send lipo depends whether you send enough for an account, which is probably enough for direct collection from the sender.

IMO this means customers with an account?indecision

Obviously this means any retailer selling lipo by mail/on line must have an account with RM/PF or use another postal/courier service. It's a business decision the retailer must make as to which method is considered the most economical, reliable, convenient & (the retailer's) customer friendly.

I can only think that the differentiation between private and account customers is only to identify a bona fide sender.

I don't have a business but I am registered with Royal Mail. Makes things easier when I get a pre paid parcel sent.

RM have registered personal accounts & separate registered business accounts.

I've never had the need to register for either.

PS they also have registered "corporate" accounts.

Back to the Pilatus, added some more sheet the to top & bottom of the right wing, managed to slip off pushing in a T pin & knocked a chunk out of the underside sheet, repaired it when it had dried.. After lunch & a trip to B&Q, did some preliminary sanding, sorted the parts for the aileron, after an hours scratching my head & finding the hinges, I got it dry assembled, then glued it together. Really like this kit, now passed the point where I kicked the Stinson into touch by assembling the aileron.smiley Still have to fit the end ribs when the rest is dry.

BTW the 3 bladed spinner I'd ordered arrived, very impressive & not a lot unlike the one supplied with the kit. Tried the adapter on the new motor & that is the same thread, may have to shorten the motor adapter, won't know until the 3 blade prop arrives from Al's Hobbies. That's it for now. The Greatest Dancer & the Voice to watch tonight.frownfrownfrown
