mini servo chattering

have just bought emax metal gear 12g mini servos from china, however when i plug in servo lead extension i get random servo chatter (its fine when connected direct to rx) have tried 3 different servo leads and all the same - any ideas

Are the leads the same brand and wire weight. I think you may be under voltage and the servo doesn't like it. Tried it with a higher voltage battery?

Dodgy ext lead. I've had them before. Could be a fracture in the wire or a dry solder joint. Bin it and try another.......

Are the servos analouge or digital my digital servos chattered at neutral

Have you enough extension lead to put a small loop in it to stop any back emf ?

RC - analogue - yes they are long enough for a loop - whats emf?

Percy - tried 3 different leads

i switched to hxt90's and no problems

Could be the servos themselves. I bought a handful of cheapie small servos for an electric model a few years ago. They jittered and chattered more than any servos I'd ever seen. I gave up on them and threw them in the back of a cupboard. No point risking a model with them.....

electro magnetic feedback oldgit.  Some ext leads have chokes (magnets) to help avoid the problem. Certain makes of speed controllers also have one on the rx power lead.

Watch out for those crappy so called *lightweight* ext leads. They should only be used with the very smallest of servos (5g or less), or so I'm told. Been there, crashed the model.......

Thanks for explaining EMF for me . I was on auto pilot thinking everybody knew what it meant, should we add this to that list made up for abbreviations  was it called Glossary ?
