I have just started to build the Zulu E Love the chunky look but just want to check something with you guys

Should the fusalage really be 5"" wide or has something gone wrong with the scaling of the free plan, Looks very wide

Hi Gangster,

If you put "Zulu" into the search box you will find a few build threads for this model. I vaguely remember that there was some confusion over the sizing of one of the formers on the plan compared to the laser-cut kit. I'm sure you'll find the answer in one of the threads.

Yes Nick I will look again. I was going through the blogs and did see a reference to F4 but I think that was for the Zulu ET. Did not find much relating to the E

Just had a look at my copy of the free RCM&E Feb 2009 plan and yes, it is 5in wide (or 4in and 15/16th wide if one is being really picky). Looks like a nice simple build and quite distinctive. Be sure to post a picture when you get it finished.

Thanks Piers for looking at that It looks like one of those simple but satisfying builds, Yes I will post a few pics, there seems to be so little about it on the forum, maybe it slightly pre dates the days when everyone posted everything on line. Maybe I can generate some renewed interest in it.

There is a thread on the Zulu which mentions some problems with the plan.

Also there is a revised drawing for the formers here to download.

Actually kc, Ganster is planning to build the Zulu E not Lindsey's confusing similarly named Zulu ET which he produced some months earlier. Similar Zebra stripes but different model!

Piers is right, there are two separate versions called Zulu. Zulu E is the low wing while Zulu ET is the high wing trainer version. T for trainer. ET was later in 2010.    There is a thread here on the E low wing.

Note that Sarik only seem to sell a plan for the Zulu E low wing, although the ET high wing would be expected to be sold too. If anyone builds the high wing from the free pull out plan then the corrected former drawing should be downloaded.
