They're all so good. I like the Provost and I'm looking forward to the Lightning - I was a radio man on 5 Sqn for five years - love them!

I will be stocking the FMS fans. I Have some of the cheaper HTIRC versions for testing and the although the quality is very good, the FMS is better. Also the HTIRC fan has a 4900kv 3S motor where as the FMS has a 5400kv 3S motor so the FMS will give slightly more power. The 11- bladed fan themselves are identical on both units but the gap between the fan blade tip and the casing and diameter of the HTIRC casing, is bigger which tends to suggest tolerances are not as good......but hey £20 for the FMS fans unit and £16 for the HTIRC....you just cant complain.....but i would recommend the FMS fan

Can’t wait for you to get them for sale on your site. I’m definitely building the JP and maybe the Gnat. Great work

Shed some blades today on both the Gnat and the Provost!....not sure why but nice to know there was no damage to the model. Interesting to note that it shed all the blade and not just one or two so no nasty vibration after it happend.....just a 'pop' and then a smooth spinning motor.....

Needless to say i hadn't design access for a fan change as I had assumed these fans were bomb proof.... there was a bit of cutting and carving to do but manged it without to much damage. On the positive side I will design a suitable access hatch and route in in future so replacement fans can be installed without the knife coming out!

Were they the FMS fans Tony?

Hi Tony, do you have a feel for what caused the blade shedding?

Could it be slight distortion of the outer casing? The fan I've got can certainly catch even holding it in the hand, it doesn't take much pressure at all.

Or do we need to keep the revs down?

Yes they were the FMS fans....The HTIRC 50mm EDF which are the cheaper equivalent, do have a larger clearance and the casing is stronger....You can quite easily hold the HTIRC edf in your hand but you cant do it with the FMS edf unit....The impeller is identical but the overall outer diameter is 2mm greater

Not had any problems since so could be just a one off ( or two off )

It may also be worth mentioning RBC kits have some new DF models too, including one of those early Gloster jet protypes. They also have the DH Swallow, Hawker Hunter, that odd little Swedish job plus an Me 163. Worth a look if these sort of models are your bag........

Hi Tony,

Having carried the JP & the Gnat over to the patch for you the other Sunday, and watching Graham put the Hunter through it's paces 😀 I'm completely sold on these little models, thanks for tempting me back from "the dark side" (model boats)

No rush for the plans, I'm on holiday for a couple of weeks 😃

Regards Ray

Hi Tony,
To equip a Gnat, would you advise a 3S or 4S EDF?
The Mig flies marvelously well in 3S. But the Gnat is more compact and heavier.
Is 3S EDF sufficient or the 4S EDF brings significant power?

Hi Marc, I wouldn't have suggested 3S if it wasn't sufficient!....adding a 4S fan will obviously improving things

Hi Tony,

Just ordered the Hunter Plan/CNC etc from you. Do you know when the build article will appear in RCM&E, or do you already have a .pdf copy you could share?

Planning on the colour scheme below - ZZ 191 en-route to RIAT last month, yours truly driving!

The build article will be done nearer the time of publication in the RCME.....the Build photos you can download from the web site are far far more helpful
