Yes they are 1970s/80s pilots in 1/12 scale. Not exactly right scale but not too bad

Mine are from real model pilots too.. but 1/16th scale...

Real aircraft I thin is 11m wingspan which scales to Tony model of 28" at 1/16..

They look a bit small but filled the cockpit with seating etc..

Don't think scale really matters as long as there is someone in the 'office !!'

Mr Nijhuis's build article in the mag suggested 1/15 scale. Sean at Realmodelpilots offered 1950's pilot busts with goggles in any scale so I ordered them in 1/15. They look about right I think.

Apologies, actually you are right, they were 1/15 pilots that I got, not 1/12. I couldn’t find the receipt to check. I know they are a tiny bit small but no ones going to measure them to check. I think they look fine and They look better than having an empty cockpit.

Just ordered the Provost plastic parts, doing mine the hard way from wood stock and plan. I'm also contemplating the red CFS scheme Ray is using on the previous page, having seen the Airfix kits in Lidl.

Hi Trevor, thats how I did mine. There aren't too many parts to cut out. It is a lot cheaper that way 😀

So , despite the weather .. a grand day out and maiden of another Provost , great job Tim, and my Gnat. Both flew great with my Gnat a real pleasure. A bit twitchy on setup but that was my fault , once sailed in amazing .. fly better than my Provost and so smooth on half power. A real stunner Tony !!

Can't wait to build the Gnat too. I've just started cutting out the parts. I have the canopy and FMS fan ready. Just finishing the Provost, just fitting in receiver, connecting ailerons and sticking on intakes.

Hi all, still busy assembling my JP.

How did you do the elevator linkage(s) - did you follow the plan? Seems a bit tight and fiddly to use wire and soldered on threaded adaptors with normal clevises.

Did you do the 'Y' linkage to both elevators? Was thinking of modifying to link the elevators with a joiner and run a single snake/wire.

What do you think?

Hi David,

yep I'm having the same thoughts regarding the piano wire push rods, but will give it a go, just glued the wings on 😀

Hi there,

On my Provost I chickened out and used 2 micro servos for the elevators which made the linkages simple - single slec small plastic snakes with metal quicklings super glued on one end - other plastic clevis super glued onto the plastic inner. The extra weigh.. grammes I really don't think makes a difference as the servos are so small, reduced load and make adjustment easier. I have done the same on the Gnat.

Hi guys

just finished the Gnat and added a bit of bling. The landing light weight was just 4grams. Now need to get a good day for its first flight.
