Whilst I miss BEBs presence myself, I see no difference in the modding standard, BEB joined discussions more. The fact that we're discussing modding goes against the CoC, yet here we are and threads not closed ?

Maybe we should look to ourselves for why the threads got closed eh.

Facebooks been great for our club, brought us new members and causes no grief.

It's good it's worked for your club John. The side I've seen of Facebook almost left my friend considering taking his own life.......

The solution for him - or part of it at least - was to get rid of his laptop. He has no online access now.

There's some real dross on facebook Percy and plenty unpleasant people, block them or don't join the groups.

The CoC in it's detail covers control of just about every forum event, if it were applied as such this would be a very barren place and the fact that it hasn't been closed kinda contradicts the reason why others have.

(Reply from Doc Marten)

I'm pretty confident that anyone who posts a topic does so bearing this in mind, nobody can predict how it's going to pan out and that's where moderation comes into play, if someone decides that they are going to be overly confrontational or aggressive then penalise that poster, don't sacrifice the entire thread for one or two posters, that's not fair on the OP nor those engaged in the thread. It's a particular bad show when someone holding the keys to the gate post their own opinion then immediately slams it closed.

I did Percy till the club opened a site, some good groups out there.

Going around in circles Doc, I'm fine with the mods.

I know, you've said.

I didn't start the thread to start a rebellion or satisfaction poll, just to ask if healthy and robust debate could be allowed without locking prematurely. I think this has proved it can.

This isn't actually going around circles, some of it has been revisited, we've so far managed to stay on topic, discussed other forms of social media and kept it civil even though the potential was there to go pear shaped. One post has even been deleted.

Just shows doesn't it?

Discussing a particular decision goes against CoC.

Discussing the modding in a general sense doesn't.

I think.

To me It's going round in circles, you don't get to choose my thoughts. Did the mods err ? Maybe they did in allowing a thread about who wasn't going to register, or pay their money, that could portray modellers in a bad light and be unhelpful. I couldn't possibly comment as I leave the mods to it. wink

Playing with words Nigel, we are discussing the decisions taken.

You don't get to choose mine either John which is why I don't think things are going in circles, however if you choose to repeat things then your posts are, the thread isn't though.

Then you must've deleted it yourself Nigel, further evidence that things can be allowed to carry on and that members can be trusted to self moderate.

It looks like Nigel did delete the post. The bit underneath states it was edited by Nigel.....

I think if a mod had deleted it, he'd have said as much.....
