Can we get this right please?

This is not the rugby world cup.

This is the Rugby UNION World Cup.

Is that funny version where it all stops after a tackle still played? I remember Eddie Waring commentating on some team named Hulking Stone Rovers or such like...

Martin, before that comment was made, you might have made subtle enquiries as to Mowermans size, speed over 100 meters, Zimmer frame use, etc.

It's OK - I checked and he lives considerably far north of Northampton (where the North starts - logical as South starts at Southampton).

Good, as I live far south of Southampton I am safe. Heard from a trusted source that the funny wriggle they do just before the tackler lets go has the same function a the wiggle dance bees 🐝 do, in this case to reset the teams brain cell as to where their goal line is.

anyway, France were rubbish, Scotland were poor, Ireland don't look like a serious threat to lift a cup. Now the Boks and the Blacks was a serious game of Unrestricted Sex Rugby Union.

To be clear, when I refer to unrestricted sex, it does not mean an orgy.

Bonus point, nothing much conceded, no apparent serious injuries. OK start.

Might start the day's work now.

One thing though, last cup, opening game, Tonga, 70 odd minutes in, we got the bonus point. In the press conference after, the player who scored that try admitted he did not know at the time it was important. Professional player mind.

This time, 70 minutes came and you could see the tension coming in. At at the touchdown, a lot of relief. This lot at least know the rules. And a steady scrum, and tricky runners willing to run. Eddie telling them to calm down is not the worst hair dryer in the world.

How good? How much belief? You find that out when you meet Wales, Australia..............etc.

i do like the rule demonstrations the ITV are putting on. Very good educations.

I know as much about Rugby as I do Quantum theory.

I've drawn France and Scotland in the office sweepstake, what are my chances of getting a 1st to 4th place finish .

Could the bonus prize for the first sending off be my only chance.

🏈🏈

(I'm half Scottish so that might be a good omen)

You're in with a chance, be a fun ride rooting for the Scots.

At the end of the first battle, I would be rooting for a red card.

Bonus point win for Wales and some nice tries, but the scrum creaked in the second half as Georgia found their feet.

Much tougher test to come, but thankfully no injuries . smiley

England in with a chance of getting out the group stages, so far. wink

Enjoyed the game, it didn't tell you much though, George Ford looked good, will he against tougher sides ?

You beat what is in front of you. In difficult conditions they laid 7 markers out. A bit of swagger is good.

Thrash Argentina . Step three. Thrash France, Step four.

Then we can start a countdown.

Glad we saw a ref who is willing to penalise a shoulder to face tackle.

This is playing havoc with the workshop discipline. I'm having enough trouble getting engaged with the current build, without distractions.

Owens had his moments, didn't make a fuss but easy red for the ref.
