I’m awaiting the batteries but I must admit there’s a lot of tail weight. I’ve made the battery area to allow it to go forward as far as possible.

How did yours balance Martin. Did you need the dreaded lead ?

Erm, yes, it will need a fair bit from what I remember. Everything as far forward as possible. Trouble is, I have built so many models due to lousy weather, being ill for quite a while and now this lot I shall need to dig out some plans and check them all.

Hello Martin

just balanced mine. With a 5000 4s turnigy pack it will balance (Slightly nose heavy) without lead if the battery is pushed right forward

I must check mine again because it is on 3s and I cannot now remember if I put some lead in. I managed to book flying slots for yesterday and today, the patch is perfect but I was not ready to do any maidens after an eight month layoff for various reasons.

Checked again, lead already installed, flying slot booked for Sun. when the wind may be 10-17 mph straight down the patch.

The 4500 pack goes in easily but is a devil to remove so toying with the idea of two 2700`s in parallel which may allow me to remove the lead and give extra capacity to boot.

Hi Martin. Good luck for maiden flight. Do you power with 3s only?
mine is also finished and I must still buy the 4s 5000 battery. No lead necessary.

Hi Martin

I felt the battery hatch as per plan was a bit small. I made mine as wide as possible

good luck for Sundayyes. Please let me know how it goes

Hi Craig I have done exactly the same as you for the battery tray😉

Mine is a ZC 4500. I obviously did not take the HD battery cable into account enough.

If the wind is not right tomorrow it will have to wait (any excuse).

Chickened out today, the wind was straight down the patch but fairly strong. I flew another model to test it out. Having virtually not flown since Sept. and being much happier with i/c I shall be there tomorrow with a 1/4 scale Stampe and a couple of Dalotels. Due to local reasons this is the first day that we are allowed to fly i/c.

No shame in not flying today, at our patch is was very blustery plus when I saw Tony N fly his to took up quite a lot of sky.

It flew quite quick even on part throttle and I got the impression the model preferred nice big scale turns and great looking fly-bys.

Do you have a anything fast and about the same size, just to get your eye in and thumbs/fingers at the ready?

Its not my thumbs that I am worried about really, just eyesight, particularly the all white scheme. Some years ago I had my eyes lasered for long distance but they got one not quite right and whist OK most of the time I can get caught out by being tired/too much beer the night before etc at random. Loads of small fast mini jets and deltas but these also need a maiden. I suppose I could dig out the Radjet.

Fairly large and fast i/c aerobatic models going to the field tomorrow and I shall just go straight into schedules without even thinking about it.
