The mini jets seem the most popular choice. Is it still worth running a poll?

Why not go for the mini jets allowing participants to make any of the series they'd like and also allow folks to make their own variations along the way, alterations to size, power system etc.

Just a thought...

I think Davids suggestion is very good and we should go for that.

I agree. I think having a few of them to choose from should increase the uptake hopefully!

EDF jets is OK with me. EDF on order and ready to make a start, Not sure which one to build though.

TBH, its what the mass build was originally all about, a quick, cheap and cheerful build. What is there not to like about it..

Martin C, my RCM&E arrived earlier this week.

The Veron Deltaceptor was a popular 40" design for a ducted fan IC engine, but is easily adapted for electric ducted fan. Adding RC would make it very interesting.

In the early '60s I built a Veron Deltaceptor, but never completed and flew it, so I looked it up on the www and found the plans there.

BUT BE WARNED: I tried to download the zipped plan on outerzone (free plans) site on Wednesday evening, using the link to the winnzip app on the Outerzone page with the plan, onto my mac, only to find that all my Bookmarks had disappeared and replaced with a load of rubbish and certain normally confidential information had been accessed and presumably copied.

My computer has spent the last 24 hours in hospital, and the emergency operation seems to have been a success.....

Hi 2W,

Outerzone only hosts PDF files; they don't link to the winzip app or zip files.

I'd suggest something else has happened to your PC before you got to the Outerzone site.

I would suggest possibly that the problem was the link offering a download a copy of winzip

As Nigel says the plans are pdf's

Sites like outer one and aerofred sell advertising space. Many of the links are labelled download but are almost certainly not what you expect, usually some genuine utility software, occasionally, malware.

I accidently accidently downloaded and installed some virus scan tool from one of the big suppliers which was a real pain to get rid of.

Have we got a definitive answer on the mass build choice yet. Only 11 days to 1st January. I don't think that anything will take over the TN minijets and there are enough raking part to make it worthwhile.

Looks like the TN 50mm EDF is the model [models] of choice. Should we make the decision.

Yes!

The Norwegian squadron has ordered 3 woodpacks. We hope to start building in the 2nd half of January.

It will be a slow build, since we intend to do most of the work during the weekly club evening.

Happy Christmas and many good flights in the new year

Great to know the mini jets are being considered for this years mass build......now i have to give a little credit to David Ashby on this one as two years ago, he did come up with the mini jet idea.....and the rest is history....so thanks Davidwink

Also think the idea of making your own choice is a great idea as it will swell the number of interested parties. The great thing about the mass build it will hopefully share the amazing aeromodelling tallent of you guys with newbies and hopefully push the boundaries of the design concept. I do hope that participates will 'do there own thing' with the new EDF power units coming along.

So at the moment you have 6 models to choose from and all of them use the same setup in terms of EDF and battery so there is no losers or winners when it comes to cost or performance.

There will be a couple more next year (EE Lightning & BAC Hawk) so hopefully there will be enough to choose from....

As several have mentioned earlier in this thread i think it would be a good idea to get going on the build earlier than in previous years. I have several hobbies and during the (hopefully) warmer months with lighter evenings etc i probably won`t be doing much building whilst now it would be a toss up between the building board and TV! Any chance the subject could be confirmed and the button pushed for the 1st of Jan as it would then be officially the 2020 mass build. Any others agree with me on this?

I will be starting my Mini Jet MB once Boxing Day is out of the way, probably a TN’s Hunter. Thanks for these great little designs Tony (and David’s suggestion).

I agree Martin. Once the decision is made, hopefully more people will join in and we will get more variety.

I've been looking at Tony's plans for years and really looking forward to building one of his designs. Really fancy the Zero at some point so I might "accidentally" put that plan in my basket when ordering the canopy wink 2 it's the most cost effective thing to do really so I'm just being sensible....

I am waiting for a restock of my balsa supplies from SLEC and then I'll be starting in the new year. Really hoping for a good Mass Build turn out.

Gary
