Does anybody fly in the North Lakes / Penrith area? I can't find any active clubs and so far I've only met one person slope soaring over at Lowca on the coast.

Thanks Alan, yes I had seen that one but could not find any further information (a web site or facebook page etc.) so assumed they are not very active anymore. Anyway I have sent an email to the secretary asking.

Probably best not to assume anything...

It's a shame that Percy Verance no longer posts on the forum, he flies in that area.

I am sure that the Eden Valley club used to have a web presence as I recall them having an aerotow event a few years ago.

There is a guy who slopes in the Lakes over on the Barcs forum.

Thanks Steve. I got an email from the Eden club, there are about 40 members who regularly fly so I’m going to go and see them. I’m surprised there is no web site but maybe they like it that way (or maybe nobody can be bothered building one!).

There used to be a group that flew at Bewaldeth a couple of miles north of Bassenthwaite just of the A591.

IIRC David Ashby was trying to make contact with them a 4 or 5 years ago, dunno if he succeeded.

PS - Just found the thread started by David. The link i provided is now dead. The phone number Percy gave may no longer be relevant.

Cheers Pat. I can probably find out if people still fly at Bewaldeth as I know the chap that runs the paragliding school there. I will ask him. I have been there quite a few times in the last couple of years and not seen anybody myself but he is there all the time so would have a better idea.

Hi Tim

The North Lakes Soaring Club is active at Bewaldeth and I am a member. Not sure I can put the Secretary's details on here but if you PM me I will put you in touch.
