I had an email from Chris this morning with a video attached of a flight video that was taken yesterday of his Whipitter flying in near perfect South Australian weather. He asked me to 'embed' it as he was unsure of what to do.

So here you,

Enjoy

Hi Rich,

Chris seems to have blocked viewing his vid on any other site than YT, so embedding did not quite work. Viewing on YT is not a problem.

Cheers,

Max.

Chris,

Its Google taking over the world! No problem if you just click on the link as Max suggests.

I have now got a couple of updated sets of parts cut ready for 'self isolation' 😉

More to follow once I get going.

Rich

Very smart thinking using the plans to give you the change of colour line on the side of the fuz.Good one.

The wheel pants are made from Craft foam (EVA), nice and flexible. Temporarily fixed with double sided tape, but when I'm happy with the shape then I'll get out the UHU. img_7523.jpg

The colour change line although inspired by the plan, found its shape in the kitchen cupboardimg_7525.jpg

Are you going to go with a cowl like Chris's?

The plan is to do a cowl, I've modelled one in CAD, just need to kick the 3D printer back in to action, and then decide if that's good enough to use or make a plug from it and Vac form from the print.

Had a few hours up at the field today testing various blade combinations. It was a bit strange chatting with the extra distance between the members who turned uo but it was worthwhile.

A couple of snaps with the Whipiteer fitted with a two blade head, these blades are Panther jobs.

My friend builds replica GT40s for a living and one of his options for the chassis is the use of a carbon/ alloy honey comb unit (Im told its the same stuff used in F1). I managed to scrounge some off cuts from him, the carbon can be peeled off the honey comb with ease and put to good use. I have made the flexible blade holder from it and it seems to work well.

A flight video to follow.

Stay safe

That's looking pretty Richard, I shall look forward to the video.

Do you think the design will be a featured plan anytime soon?

Cliff,

I need to build my second model to get descent build photos, that said Kevin seemed keen for it so I hope this year some time.

Here is the video:

That looks great Richard, love the sound too with the two blade setup. Is it harder to fly than the three blade model? Brave to fly in that wind too.

That looks very impressive Rich, nice looking model and you fly it very nicely. Hopefully the plan will be published soon.

I'm hoping to fly my Whippish this week it's just about ready to whirl.

Phil.

Piers,

Like you I do like the sound of the 2 blades, are they harder to fly? Yes and No. A little trickier to set up but once right are on par with 3 blades.

Phil,

Look forward to seeing a flight report smile

Thanks for the comments gents

Rich

Well it looks as if flying is off the cards at the moment. Total lock down in my part of the world. Flying clubs are locked with a $75.000 fine for any one found on the field. So I hope everyone has building materials on hand and plenty of time to spare.Cos I did so hope to get in some more flights with this model

Happy Landings.
