Six days flying in 3 months here in East Somerset. Too wet ! Windy ! Foggy when it's calm. Can't remember a winter like it since I started playing with toys in 69 !😵😵😵 Colin

Colin, now be honest, we are far too young to have begun playing with toys in 69 !

Same here in Berkshire. Just checked rhe Met Office forecast for the next week, more of the same. The long range forecast mentions a chance of things calming down a bit in the south and east in early March, but I won't get my hopes up.

At least my club has an indoor flying session this week!

Yes the weather all over the UK has been dire. We must remember it is Winter, better weather will arrive I,m sure. I class my self as a modeler. I build planes to fly. I use this bad spell to complete my Winter build, and upgrade, and maintain my other model ready for The Spring. We complain about the weather because we cannot fly, lets spare a thought for the people who are homeless due to the weather. I.ll get my coat. Cheers

Also haven't flown since October. The field's generally OK, just can't drive down the track to it. Committee claim owner won't allow the club to surface the track. Hmmm, we finally have a mole in the committee who intends to find out if that's exactly true or just apocryphal.

So, I've almost finished my Skystreak 32, built an FT 42" Spitfire and will be covering the Cub soon. When all that's done I might be able to navigate my Suzy Swift up the track without falling sideways into the big ditch! If not I was recently given a Black Horse Angel needing repair, fit out and finishing. But yes, model yachts are the next most involving sort of model and I do have a few of those up in the loft somewhere.

I read about it. Something about the jet steam has shrunk it the heat, and lost its wobbles, and retreated north in disgust.

I don't mind the wind, but I can do without the rain. My local flying field is flooded, and other fields at other clubs are not much better. sad

Fingers crossed for an improvement soon.

Don't feel bad it's not been great this side of the Atlantic either, not too bad up to Christmas but then it turned windy and rain here on the Island even had a week or so of snow, usually on the Pacific coast its relatively warm 6-10c daytime 2-5c at night, it is only just starting to moderate, luckily no floods - so far..

good luck to you all hope the weather gets better soon.

Just opened the curtains. Guess what, it’s chucking it down. Not so worried about the flying, I’ve got two dogs to walk in the mud. There’s no pleasure in it.

On a brighter side it’s Leicester beer festival from Wednesday, it’s inside so might stay for the three days and “drown” my sorrows!

Romeo Whisky, I love the DUKW. If I ever won the lottery, which, given that I don't buy the tickets, is rather unlikely, a DUKW is what I would buy! I blame Airfix for this particular obsession.

Going back to the weather, given that there are only two types; building weather and flying weather, I'm looking forward to this being a truly classic year for new models, particulalry scratchbuilt, from plans and 'proper' kits. Even some of those ones lurking part built in the roof or on top of the wardrobe stand a chance of getting finished and flown.

All that is needed now is some good excuses and artful dodging to avoid the wife/girlfriend with the household 'to do' list.

Started off bright sunlight as I scraped the ice off the windscreen and the sun even felt warm out of the wind.

LUnchtime forecast, Snow by tomorrow morning. Ah well, put the gas on full in the workroom and stay in door.

The long range forecasts on the internet (Met office) said at least 20th of March.

March is either "in like a lion, out like a lamb" or "in like a lamb out like a lion".

Looks like it will the former.

All the long range forecast sites I have are showing from the 7/8 March onward there should be a week of fair weather. Still might be on the breezy side at times.
