Looks like there could be flying opportunities next week here in the East.

That depends on which forecast you look at.

XCWeather has the best but the rest are all different.

IT is at times like this that I wish I was back in ADen in 1961

My dad was stationed there until 1964, whilst he was in the RAF. Don't if you know a Terry Marsh...?

I was there in 61 to 62.

The name doesn't ring a bell but Khormaksar was a huge station.

Not a big fan of XC, I tend to use WU and Ventusky, the former because it feeds off local PWS and the latter because you can trace global weather patterns.

Today's forecast says it is currently foggy and raining.

I can't see if it is foggy outside, because it is snowing heavily !

An inch of snow yesterday morning - and a green field by lunchtime with glorious sunny skies in the afternoon. They say variety is the spice of life...

Approach and landing was "interesting" in the stiff breeze but in the present climate, not a bad day for winter.

Today is a different matter altogether...sad

My wife has yet again saved the day!

She insisted that I buy a water butt for the garden, install guttering to fill it.

Yesterday I completed the job, always bigger than you would think. At this point she announced well that is about it, I should be playing golf next week, as the rain will now stop. Plus you, dear husband, should be pleased as this summer your lawn will not be a parched plot of land. There will be ample rain.

Just think, how simple the solution has been, now people were sacrificed, having the hearts ripped out, no virgins thrown down wells etc. All it takes is a water butt, I suggest if the rain and wind does not totally cease, that a few more install garden water butts.

It may continue to be windy though, as she is only interested in water logged golf courses, the wind is not to much of an issue. Any ideas?

Today it has been a perfect morning, mild, clear blue sunny skies,,calm wind.

I have done the weekly shopping and also my next door neighbours.

Then I put a couple of batteries on charge and came in and looked at the met office rainfall radar.

I estimate that it will be raining by about 2 pm.angryface 14crying

OH well,Friday looks good!!

I'm now thinking about Erf's virgins. Best I get on and fit a bottom cowl.

Might be nice today but my local field will be suffering badly from waterlogging & mud. Going to take many weeks of warmer and dryer weather to make it useable without a couple of hours of car, model and boot cleaning after every visit. Still pretty cold with temps still in single figures and wind chill on top of that.

Got a press cutting from seven of eight years ago warning about severe summer droughts after a couple of unusually mild and dry winters at the time....never been the same since!

Cuban8. We have the same problem, except we can't get cars ( even 4x4) across to our field. We are 3 fields off the road and the track is passable until the last bend which refuses to drain.we have cut channels into the ditch in the past but to no use. If we take cars that far turning round is difficult. Not too bad if you fly small electric that you can carry as we can walk to the field but anything bigger is hard. Haven't been out myself since October.

I have 3 water butts and they all empty very quickly in high summer.

But it's sure better than nought!

I'm saying THIS is the first day of Spring. Strange kind of light and a lightness to the air. Birdies all in good voice. No wind. That's all in Eastern England. Of course it's still much the same for the poor sods under water, no doubt.

We seem to have a slight problem. Not enough people have water butts.

Your Hobby need you!

Get at least 4 water butts, to stop the rain now, and ensure we have a temperate summer.

If not, we need to sacrifice a few virgins, or perhaps have a Chitchen Itza type football match. I believe thee is a pyramid in Stockport for the heart ripping out bit. Although I do not remember seeing any steps to the top, nor a serpent. Hmm.

I will speak with my wife, she always knows what I should do!

Friday looks good here too, Pete. Batteries will be charged tomorrow, and as the winds are supposed to be reasonably light, I'll take a selection of smaller models - Durafly Tundra in case the strip is ropey, Ohmen to throw around the sky, and Durafly Bf109e in case the strip is good enough - I've got warbird flying withdrawal syndrome!
