Being a bit of a computer nerd i follow a number of tech youtube channels and several have been urging their fans to get into folding at home.

Folding at home is a piece of software that installs on your computer and then uses your machines processor and graphics card to perform scientific research.

Things like DNA analysis, protein sequencing and other science things are all done while your system is idle. You can set the amount of system resources you want the program to use and it can be set to stop working on science things when you want to use your pc to do other important things like read forum posts or watch videos of cats on youtube.

Anyway all of this analysis is then sent off to servers where it is held until requested by brainiacs who know what it all means.

This page **LINK** gives more information on the software and how it works. You can download it and get going right away. Any pc will do, and you can leave it on all day if you want as it will just keep crunching the numbers.

Some time this week i am going to try and put together a pc out of all the bits i have lying around and just leave it on.

If anyone has a spare machine or does not mind leaving their laptop or home pc on during the day to work on this it will only help speed up the development of cures for this and other diseases.
