Me too, Glynn, this really is above and beyond, thanks. Do you have any decals for Red Tail P51D's, haven't decided on a particular aircraft yet but if you have any already prepared that might help with the decision.

I have done Tall-In-The-Saddle but can do most of them as long as you have the Star's & Bar's from Richard

Thanks Glynn -I was very pleasantly surprised to receive some of the spacers this morning, I thought that they were something that needed to be ordered.

Thanks for that chaps, but the praise should go to Richard who goes Above and Beyond the call of duty when it comes to producing these kits. The amount of time and miles he does astonishes me. So it's nice to have a little input to the cause. Those spinners are a work of Art.

Having had a chance to speak to him on the phone where we talked at length about all sorts, I concur that he's a brilliant bloke. His contribution to the hobby is just immense. Hip hip hooray!

Well I have met the 'Boys' on many an occasion but have never seen ART.... cousin?

Well while you lucky lads who have been sniffing the contents of your 'Labelled' boxes trying to find room on the cluttered workbench.

I have been slaving away trying to get the left wing to the same point as the right.

I have to finish lining the wheel well and then glue the wing tip on.

The old lump of expanded polystyrene helps to lower the 'dings' in the sheeting.

Just had to take a couple more pictures of the flaps as they are really worth the time and effort .

I mean come on guys don't they look sexy....!

Paul,

Good to see your progress with the P-51.

I’ll be the first to acknowledge that the flaps look superb. Having a sealed hinged flap like this will be very effective to reduce the landing speed. That will be important to have a nicely handling model.

But you have me worried that this is the most difficult part of the build. I will have to up my build game!!

All the best,

Gordon

HI Gordon,

Provided you follow the build and the manual you will have no problems. Just take your time, check it twice before you cut anything.

Anything you aren't sure of ask on here.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the advice on the flaps. It’s always a good thing to read the manual carefully!

I have been looking at motors to use with the FMS 14x8 4 blade prop and from reading previous comments, I have obviously to take care not to over stress the blades.

I had a look at the Overlander Tornado motors and the 580kv out runner seems to be a candidate.

https://www.overlander.co.uk/rc-motors/outrunners/5055-06-580kv-tornado-thumper-v3-brushless-outrunner-rc-motor.html

Do you think this is a good choice?

All the best,

Gordon

Hi Gordon,

That is a good motor, I have one in a slightly larger air frame. It is a bit physically bigger than the FMS one but will do the job, obviously you will have to check all the alignment of motor to cowl etc as you go. The motor also has a shaft which extends rearwards when you fit the prop adapter, this is removed using a dremel on mine. This will protrude into the battery box if you don't remove it. The FMS one does not have this shaft sticking out the back.

Great!! Thanks Paul. Thought it might be pushing it a bit on power. Now that’s sorted, I just need to save up the pennies. smiley
